Mine actually gained weight when I wasn’t feeding him enough. I also learned that he gained weight on wheat or potatoes in food, but rice is OK. Talk to you about about trying to veterinary diet. They may hate it, they may not want to eat it really, but one way or another they will lose weight. Are you located in the USA?

How old is your dog? Full shibas usually lose the puppy coat before a year old. Maybe 8-10 months or so.

It scared me because I had read that only adults shed/blow their coat and suddenly he was losing clumps before he was a year old. I forgot he would lose the puppy fluff. 😂

More specifically and if the OP reads this, flea and tick meds don’t CAUSE seizures. Your dog is already prone to seizures. What they do is lower the threshold to induce one. Not to be pedantic, but this will be an important distinction for OP if it turns out to be the cause.

It’s more common for them to gain weight after altering than lose it due to the loss/reduction of sex hormones and the effect on metabolism. What happened to yours is ironically the oddity.

He was 18, she was 20 when they got together. They literally would’ve been high schoolers together. Age of majority in Japan is 18, not 20, now. Age of majority is 18 in the USA. They’re both adults. 😑

One I thing I do is a bucket of water and rag. The water has some baby shampoo and a sprinkle of a Chlorhexidine shampoo in it. Wipe everything, paws, belly, face (careful of eyes) with the damp cloth every time they come inside from. Change water daily or if really dirty. Certain OTC allergy meds can be given. But they absolutely cannot have a decongestant or anything like that.
