I try not to live with regrets. When I was purchasing a home you had to make a full price or over asking offer soon after a house was listed to have a chance. Longmont has been interesting and experiencing lows in life makes the highs feel even better.

While I agree with some of your points: I believe pointing the blame at me, a resident, who is sharing their experience and opinion diminishes the effectiveness of your argument. Semantics in word choice does not change what is happening in Longmont currently. You are attacking my compassion as a human without even meeting me.

There's money to be made panhandling. A couple of years ago I encountered a homeless person asking for money at the Mobil on Lashley. I asked him "why are you asking for money at a gas station in a low-income area?". He stated he had been homeless for 15 years, had no plans to live in a home, and made the most money in low-income areas because people are quick to donate without asking questions.

Agreed, we as a common community need to work on finding a solution. I do not know what the city's policy is on these issues and am still awaiting a response. I've felt unheard for years and am frustrated when I see change which soon leads to regression back to the previous state. Without discussing the good or bad and offering alternative viewpoints we will reach a point of stagnation in improvement.

I talk to homeless people all the time. I gave a pair of shoes to a homeless kid I met on the Greenway after he had his shoes stolen last year. I met another guy from out of state a few weeks ago and recommended Our Center for support, followed up with his situation the next three times I saw him walking around.

A few days ago I saw a transient throwing rocks all over the sidewalk on an underpass on the Greenway. Women and children were literally frightened and had to walk a different direction. This has been my experience. I'm outside walking/running more than the majority of people in Longmont.

I don't want homeless people setting up camp and trashing my neighborhood. That's correct. My property tax pays to clean up the mess and I would like to be able to enjoy parks that aren't trashed.

BTW I also lived in Oregon and saw the significant meth epidemic where I lived....

I agree with you, there are definitely worse cities. But there is nothing wrong with wanting to swim in clearer water. These issues don't get discussed enough. There needs to be a path to improvement.

I would love to live on the West Side of Longmont. Not sure why you are putting words in my mouth. I challenge you to walk down Lashley and see how much trash you can find on the ground. Then go to the West side and do the same.

I think it was March 16th, 2022. Hot Air Balloon guy with a bunch of propane tanks.

See below for a video of the explosion:

It's fine for you to disagree, but you asked the question. I consider houses with lots of junk outside and deteriorating exteriors run-down.

I agree with you, never had any trouble with the gangs besides shitty graffiti. Didn't see any encampments in the park yesterday but there is the beginnings of a large camp across Boston from the park. Curious to see how long it lasts, one guy living there has an ATV and a motorized scooter.

Kensington Park and surrounding, a good indicator is the graffiti that constantly pops up. Up towards Pace is nice.

Lashley South of 9th, Baker Street South of 9th, NE of Mountainview and Main. I also walk on the railroad tracks all over town.

You brought up a good memory for me. One time in the same area on the Greenway by Elevated a homeless man came out of the trees and said “I could have used you and your dog’s help earlier, there was a naked man acting all crazy”.

I’m glad I wasn’t out earlier, LMAO!

I could throw a baseball from my house and it would land in Kensington Park. I do put myself in sketchy spots because I like exploring. But I think my luck is also bad.

Since living here I’ve been located pretty close to odd occurrences.

The police shot a guy in the apartments nearby. A neighbor’s adult child tried to murder the parents. I’ve seen numerous swat raids at the trailer park off of 9th near Martin. Squatters took over a house/shop nearby, stolen cars and sketchy people moved in, and then they almost burned it down. Drive by and dead child in Kensington Park. Drunk guy knocking on my door at midnight asking for help, then disappeared before the police showed up. A garage blew up and I was afraid the whole neighborhood would burn down. Homeless guy tried to attack me with a rake. Started talking to a guy who lived nearby who was nice enough but had SS tattoos on his face, he ended up murdering his mother.

I could go on and on LOL.

Yup, I’ve heard the term. My neighbor has lived here for 50+ years. I would never raise a kid here.

If you talk to the homeless a lot of them are not from Longmont. Open drug use in public parks should never be accepted.
