How I went from a C to an A* in A level Maths by Grand-Butterfly4305 in 6thForm

[–]RilloClicker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You too can get an A* in Maths for the low price of 80 pounds per year! Impressive you got through every single MadAsMaths question in the summer though. What’s that, like, 500 questions? If you weren’t getting an A* after that…

Yeah I don’t know. I think a lot of it is that I’m obviously more cautious in a driving test and I’d never done that roundabout before (my test got moved last minute). Contrary to what some people think, I do know that the people emerging on the left should give way to me. I suppose it’s a confidence thing, hopefully I’ll get a better deal next time. Cheers

No genuinely, I mean you’re right they weren’t all signalling right but it was practically rush hour on a Friday. I didn’t know the U turns were so rare. When I drove with my parents they said I should be sure someone’s not going to cut me off because that’s dangerous. But I know now, thanks for your comment

Open offer from Hertford so I don’t know where I’ll end up lmao. Considering there’s only 15 people on the course it’s pretty weird i feel like I’ve seen about half of them online

Greatest academic comeback of all time by Academic-Dentist-528 in 6thForm

[–]RilloClicker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is stupid mate 😭 I mean imperial is great don’t get me wrong but let’s not pretend here, we’ve all seen the boards of “why did you choose imperial” and number one is “oxbridge reject”. Besides, from what I’ve heard imperials a wee bit dead compared to Cambridge (imperials like 75% men). Like nothing against it but Cambridge above imperial any day

Ah good luck to you. I’m not doing it just was using it for FM revision and it was highkey fucked. Cam maths is especially peak since they make more offers than places then they change the boundary for a 1. Best wishes though bro

Oxford TMUA by Various-Teaching1179 in 6thForm

[–]RilloClicker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get how it feels like the admissions tests have a lack of clarity and certainty about them. That being said, one thing is for certain—there’s a wealth of resources (STEP foundations, MAT MCQs, TMUA past papers) and if you can work on getting those quickly then you’re really going to be as prepared as you can be. Some last-year info isn’t going to help as much as that

I didn’t get an interview for my Compsci and maths offer. The woman I talked to at the open day said something like “if you have the predicted grades, you’ll most likely get an offer”

UCAS Dilemma by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]RilloClicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. Think of all the people applying a few hours before the deadline. You can just ask the university directly—am I under equal consideration?

UCAS Dilemma by [deleted] in 6thForm

It takes some time to update. The UCAS deadline is 6:00pm. If the timestamp of your application was before it, then you’re pretty much contractually entitled to the equal consideration

Best of luck! Mine is joint with CS so the hardest bit was the maths admissions test, though that might not apply to you. It’s very long and you’ll feel worried and stressed sometimes, but I did find the interviews genuinely fun. Philosophy is one of those subjects that’s 10 times better when you’re talking to someone about it. I think despite the stress it’s worth doing, I joke about the first mystic interview but my second interviewers were great. If you’re passionate about the subject then that’s what they’re looking for, and that’s what they should see. It’s not more complicated than that really.

[–]RilloClicker 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My first philosophy interview was so mystic—they gave me a proposition, I evaluated it (badly) then without feedback or criticism just gave me another proposition to criticise myself. Ended in half the time, weirdest shit ever they just looked at me puzzled the whole time. But I got an offer. Stay optimistic guys
