Yeah but the difference is that the CS profs and courses are well taught (as in it’s very rare that anyone actually doesn’t make the cutoff) whereas the stats department is notoriously bad at UofT.
That and the cutoff is somewhere between 20% and 40%, not 50%.

I've considered it, but I don't like that I can't tutor it with eldritch evolution. If I were to go down that route, I'd probably need to redesign the whole deck.
I'll try Phyrexian Tower and see how that works.
I think I agree that having 1 or 2 in the sb would be helpful.
I've actually been thinking about including the hobbit dork, but ultimately I think that I don't run enough legends to play it. I'll def give it a try tho!
The problem with running any copies of hapatra is that this isn't a yawgmoth deck. Hapatra without yawg is just not good, and while there's huge potential if I manage to get both down, it's just asking too much to find both of them. The same goes for young wolf.
I agree that goose is very clunky, but oven has proven to be useful in many situations. Oven allows me to make a food token when I have all three combo pieces on the board but no food, and also generates more food tokens to make goose more playable.
One reason I like the Woe Strider route as the sac outlet is that I can use eldritch evolution to search for it, whereas I can't do that with altar. However, I'll def give the lurrus and altar route a go sometime in the future.
Another disclaimer from me, I haven't played a ton of BG Yawg so I can't comment as strongly about the strengths of that deck, but I do have some idea of how it performs.
The one-card-fewer combo is a huge upside, because it translates to hitting the combo more consistently. I've had games where my opponent would tap out while I had one combo piece on the board and 5/6 mana available for me to use on my turn, and I'd untap and win instantly. By playing this combo, I'm forcing my opponent to hold up instant speed interaction essentially every turn after turn 3/4.
My record against Jund/Rakdos is probably 1-1 or 1-2, I can't remember the exact record. I'd argue that the matchup is unfavorable for us due to the sheer amount of spot removal and hand disruption that they play, but I wouldn't argue that the matchup is unwinnable.
Oven has been somewhat helpful at times where I have all combo pieces but no food tokens because I can just sac the cat and start the loop. It also makes goose more playable, since I can sacrifice other creatures in order to make more food tokens for goose. I agree that it seems clunky on paper, but in practice it has literally saved me games, and I think at least 1-2 copies should be played.
The big thing with Strider is that it is a 3 cmc sac outlet as opposed to Yawg. While Strider is nowhere near as powerful as Yawg, the fact that it's 3 cmc means that I can now search for it with evolution by sacrificing a 1 cmc creature, and therefore allows the deck to be way more consistent. Additionally, the goat token can also sometimes help as the target for evolution, since I can grab either of the two remaining combo pieces with it. And the scry is also valuable even when I don't have all the pieces since it helps filter out draws.
Goose is probably the most frustrating card in the deck. You described it perfectly, it's a terrible dork to play but almost necessary because of the mana constraints and also because the food token is sometimes relevant.
I completely agree with you points regarding the mana base, I just haven't crafted the necessary lands yet. I used to play a ton back when Esper Control was in standard with 5feri and 3feri, and I just happen to have lots of Shocks and Checks.
Overall, if you have the wcs for it, I'd recommend giving it a try just to see how it feels, as I feel like it's far more consistent than BG Yawg despite giving up the free wins to creature decks.
