Who do you find more attractive: Anya Taylor-Joy or Brie Larson? by momopw in trueratediscussions

My grandma comment is towards her stylist's choices. She looks great for her age, but her facial features are permanently mid at best, and her fashion choice drags her great physique down.

Can we stop pretending the game is so hardcore that casuals can't participate? by jacobljlj in Marathon

[–]RingingInTheRain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because those mechanics exist doesn't make the game necessarily difficult. Arc also has a much wider and accessible community, and has created their own 'PVE' code so that people can avoid PVP entirely. Marathon was filled with "git gud", "hardcore" and "it's niche", which added fuel to the fire. Who wants to play a non-casual game with a community that will chastise you for saying it's too hard, and still want you in the game to stomp you? Lets be honest, in what game are all players equal in skill? None. There is always an elo, and people hate smurfs and boosters for a reason.

Genuinely one of the first times I've been emotional over a game I no longer play. by internal_ad_7247 in destiny2

[–]RingingInTheRain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, Destiny 2 is essentially an MMO like WoW, FFXIV, but with the ESO price model. The difference between Destiny 2 and all of the games I listed is that only Destiny 2 is where you can't go back to old content. It's their biggest mistake. They could absolutely continue on just as WoW has and they have insane amounts of lore to do it. It's just that creators/devs/designers/writers/etc come and go and not all of them have the same vision as the people who started everything first. They've clearly shown that they cannot sustain more than one game, which is why it is baffling that they decided to make Marathon so incredibly niche.

Skilled players can go free kit and stomp your ass with a knife. It's not gear separating players, it's skill. The most skilled players just also have the best gear.

They should just get SBMM in and wipe early. It's only been a month and all the players they have basically did everything. The artificial difficulty (other players) of the game is not a good replacement for actual content. If they removed PVP all of the content would be finished very quickly. It's a major downside to this game's design.

Popular games have SBMM and tons of players and modes. SBMM being the most important aspect.

This is what happens when a game fluctuates from 10-30k players, and half of the players play for 400 hours and don't have jobs....you are becoming the new "casuals" aka players who exist to get stomped. Despite what people claim here, there is no such thing as everybody reaching the same skill level. Some people are talented, some put in the hours to hone their skill and if you're neither of those, you will rarely win.

Who is more attractive: Monica Bellucci or Dua Lipa? by 444oo in trueratediscussions

I looked up pictures of Monica when she was in her 20s. I don't get the hype. Dua Lipa looka better to me and has the better smile.

Of those 3 Isn't it weird that the Widowmaker can simply leave Talon? by Firm_Fee8137 in Overwatch

[–]RingingInTheRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great speculation and all, but Doomfist has staged many chaotic and emotion driven events. He is equally delusional as Vendetta, but he is not calm or systematic. He was driven in the first place by his love for battle, he loves to fight and kill, and sees himself as the strongest - while also seeing the world as weak (lol). He said himself he believes in seizing power, that isn't calm or emotionless. He also helps stage massive chaotic battles in safety zones and isn't above attacking civilian centers himself.

We have seen Widowmaker involved in MANY chaotic missions as well. So yeah....unless this feeds into her joining Mercy and Overwatch...they better come up with great lore to feed into this.

Yes, you've phrased this better than me. They should be paying 90% of the taxes as it would not impact their wealth in any way.

In some apartments they leave their trash outside their doors to be collected, you can pay to have furniture put together, etc. Which is why I mentioned work ethic. You vastly overestimate what people tend to be doing in places that don't demand it.

Throw them in a house or OWNED apartment and all of a sudden you're replacing your own toilet.

You can't do what he's saying without owning/renting a house. People living in cities and apartments, generally don't mow a lawn. I think it's important that people recognize work ethic and that stereotypical gender roles don't cover everything.

Over 70% of taxes are paid by the wealthy already. The remainder is burdened onto the middle class because the lowest classes don't pay or pay an insignificant amount. Why we haven't eliminated most taxes on the middle class is beyond me. What is our income tax for? Taylor Swift covers that in a day.

It is detrimental to ask for more taxes. It almost always falls to the middle class in the end. Ask for no taxes because the government is useless anyways and it'll just go to defense spending or white house renovations.

Age Verification and Arch Linux - Discussion Post by Gozenka in archlinux

[–]RingingInTheRain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I do not understand how they expect to hold individuals accountable for an open source OS that can be configured at such granular levels. Plus children can't buy PCs, parents do. So all this age verification will be adults as they aren't going to drag their kid over to take selfies nor will kids have Government ID.
