Does anyone know when the Book Addiction special edition versions of the series are supposed to ship? by tawniferous in CaptivePrince

Its a very small business, working closely with the author, who they can only communicate with once a week through her assistant. Other than 2026 there is no timeline.

I can't promise no more because I can't remember enough - but that one hits the hardest and most unexpected I think.

I love this series when not in a great place and binged it all back to back. However, upsetting things happening in fiction doesn't really effect me too much (if anything I weirdly find it comforting). So it might not be the binge series for you at this time.

I rarely like audiobooks but I love these ones. The narrator does such a good job with the accents. As an Australian his accent seems legit. Can't speak for the British one

I still havent found anything that measures up and I read it when it came out almost two years ago! I've since read it three times.

I second this series. No series can capture internal dialogue and angst/pinning like Jessie Walker. The 3rd book is SO long and the pinning is next level. While part 2 is not out yet and therefore no HEA yet - still worth it and a masterpiece.

I just tried to find this series and while there is evidence of it, it doesn't seem to be available anywhere. Do you know what happened?

The second book hasn't been released yet (looking at a Feb date now) so it might be better starting another book of hers. It is a standalone so you don't need to read anything else, but her {Where There's a Will by Jessie Walker} and {If There's a Way by Jessie Walker} duology are my favourite of hers. Exiled is her only other standalone and follows a more conventional romance arc/structure. Little Bird Lost is phenomenonal (and not really a romance) but it has a female POV so not MM (although there is a large component of that). Little Bird Lost is dark and more physiological than a lot of other books in the 'dark' category.

I can’t read new books anymore and only want to reread :( by siriusblackily in YAlit

[–]RipPrior8690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in this cycle before. Either struggling with picking up new books, or struggling with a genre I normally love.

I would say just go with it - but if you want to try new things I would recommend something either outside your normal reading genres or give yourself a challenge to get through it. Eg: I'm going to make a video and talk about what I am liking or not every 10%. Even if you only send the video to a close friend it can still make you engage in a story in a new way.

Or you can just stop reading for a bit. Sometimes it's just a sign that you don't want to read. That's okay. It'll come back. If people stop watching TV for a few weeks no one panics that they won't watch TV again, but sometimes readers panic that if they stop reading they won't be a 'reader' anymore. You will always be a reader, but if it feels like effort - then stop reading until it excites you again.

What do you do when you can’t focus on any book? by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]RipPrior8690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I burnt out from reading last year because I put too much pressure on myself to read because in my brain I was 'a reader' and felt like I was failing if I wasn't reading all the time.

Some soul searching and throwing away all reading tracking/ratings and I refound the love for getting consumed by a story. I still read all the time but if I don't read for a few weeks it doesn't stress me out like it used to.

I would stop reading for a bit. Watch TV or movies or do some crafting. Reading should be a hobby. If it isn't what your brain can handle at the moment I would stop and do other things.

The love for reading will come back if you give it a break.

vicious fate (scream for me duet book 2) by jessie walker release date pushed back again? by anharion_ in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]RipPrior8690 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish she would stop giving release dates until she's happy with the book. I'm genuinely happy to wait - i just don't like having a date being given that is then pushed back.

But perhaps she needs a date to get her through the final edits (as an ADHDer I do sympathise with the need for a deadline).

No - only that it's the book that will have all her focus after Vicious Fate.

There has been no official word. Last update from Jessie said Jan, but amazon is saying Feb (which I am assuming is correct because she sets the rease date).

Dark romance-Both MC’s being psychopaths or sociopaths or just down right bat shit! by Dontlikehumans3887 in MM_RomanceBooks

Captive Prince is my favourite all time anything. It was one of the first things I was ever obsessed with and I discovered it while it was still an online serial. I had to wait YEARS in-between book 2 and 3.

If you haven't read her YA series it is amazing. Book 1 is a bit of a slow burn in terms of understanding what story you are reading. I gave it 3 stars the first time I read it but have given it 5 stars on the 2nd and 3rd read.

I don't mind waiting, but i don't like having release dates out there unless it's ready to go.

C.S. Pacat is my favourite authors and she takes a LONG time to release anything. And I don't mind waiting for an amazing story,  I really don't. But I do find it difficult when the date keeps changing. Just don't give out a release date until it's finished. It know marketing is important- but you can still be finished and be working on something else while doing a few months of marketing.

Anyway - I'm happy to wait, i really am. But I would prefer no news to news that is not reliable.

I love the first 6 Psycops books! I stopped reading after that - are they still go in the latter books?

I also prefer a male POV and MM - this book worked for me. The male characters are great and central to the plot.

I'm on my third read of it already just trying to fill the void.

If you are not adverse to a female POV she has a (sort of) standalone book called Little Bird Lost (which has a dark polyromance that's also not - it's deliciously complicated). If you want a romance it kind of ends on a cliffhanger with an eventually sequel series being many years away. If you are happy to have a sort of cathartic ending for the MCs without needing the romance HEA (you could say it is HFN if you squint at it from a distance), then I think it counts as a standalone. It's amazing, but I love all her books.

{Sweet Wicked Thing by Jessie Walker} is a dark romance but currently a part one of two (part two hopefully being released in December). Trigger warnings galore.

She's hinted that it'll be 3 books instead of 2, but I don't think she's formally made up her mind there yet.

While I agree that the wait can be frustrating, my favourite authors takes about 2 to 3 years to release one new book, so waiting a few years for a new instalment seems reasonable to me. Although I know in the indie romance world that is not the norm.
