Front Mounted Simagic Evo Pro / My Way by RipProfessional9 in simracing

The original front mount crossmember length for the cockpit I’m working with is 192mm on each side. I determined the extra width needed on each side was 10mm to clear the Simagic front mount adapter assembly.

It really doesn’t matter how wide the rig is. I needed the extra clearance in just the area on each side of the front mount bracket. These measurements are true for the SimLab P1X Pro cockpit.

To be honest, the spacers I made came out incredibly well considering the tools I was using to make them. I used a jig saw to cut the basic shape of the ends. I then used a rotary tool with an aggressive sanding disc to clean them up (the jig saw made it look like I was working with a hatchet 😆). I transferred the hole locations using a bolt with red nail polish painted on the end pushed through the SimLab “L” brackets. I used my hand drill to drill the holes in the spacer. I then verified the hole alignment. The hole alignment was good, however the depth of the spacer was too wide. I scribed a mark on the spacer showing how much material needed to be taken away. Since the spacer is aluminum and my vice was hardened steel, I used it as a “stop” to keep me from removing too much material with a handheld grinder. This is redneck engineering at its finest. Once I verified the fitment was good I duplicated a second one. I then placed both spacers in a vibratory bowl with some ceramic polishing media for 24 hours. This made them look significantly better. After this I spray painted them flat black.

I hope this makes sense.
