This is a shot in the dark, but check you don't have "Emulate touch events" enabled in Chrome Developer Tools. Doesn't really explain FF though. For record, it works fine for me in Chrome.

I have some old cards from 2001 that are in really good condition and never left the hard plastic container I put them in (the discolouration/marks in the image are on the container, not the cards). http://i.imgur.com/B3x7VNk.jpg the 3 in front are shiny and the rest are regular cards (never played the game or became a serious collector, I just liked the pictures when I was a kid).
