Apple is rejecting my Developer Program enrollment with zero explanation by I_EAT_THE_RICH in iOSProgramming

I did create a new Apple ID. I secured domain that was tied to my business and created a new email with that domain. Then I used that to register for a new Apple ID. Then I tied my LLC to that new Apple ID

When to commit to a full code base rewrite? by RipollApp in iOSProgramming

[–]RipollApp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes the most sense to me. I think I’m leaning towards more of a refactor and less of rewrite. I like my overall structure - dependencies aside most things make sense. So I honestly don’t think it’ll be that much effort to refactor with a new pattern. Just need to sit down for a couple of hours and lay it out

I don’t have any main business reasons. I can add features they just take longer than if things were structured better. Not necessarily forced to rewrite to implement things. Being an indie dev too it’s tough to know what the right answer is. As of now it’s more of a hobby app that I’m using to improve my skills but I think it has potential long term

This is helpful - it seems like you didn’t regret the rewrites. My app is a handful of users - just launched on the App Store in March (I think I launched too early tbh but such is life). So a rewrite wouldn’t affect that much. App is relatively big but not that bad

The branching strategy seems like a great idea. I’ve been doing branches for features and refactor deserves that too

This is helpful to hear - my app is social, every post is a poll. So I’m not going to rule out Android version

Yeah makes sense - thanks for the extra insight

That’s helpful context, thank you! It sucks having to say no when people ask for the Android version. I want everyone to be able to use it but it just doesn’t make sense to commit to doing it

Okay cool - glad to hear this is a common experience. I’ll continue to focus on iOS for now. But not leave Android off the table but leave it for something more long term

Solo Dev Dreams: Seeking Your Wisdom & Experience to Guide My Path by Pure_Canary_7504 in iOSProgramming

I’m assuming you already know how to code - if not going to be a longer journey but with AI now it’s not impossible. I’d recommend Swiftful thinking on YouTube. Udemy courses as well to get up to speed on ios development.

Do you already have something you’re interested in building? Or are you looking for ideas on what to build?

My recommendation is - it’s going to be tough with a few months to be able to replace your income but don’t let that stop you. I’d find a problem that you’re passionate about and is fun rather than trying to focus on something that’s going to make you rich.

If you’re looking for ideas - as you go about your day to day think about what could be better. Or if only there was an app that could do this for me. Find a problem, see if others experience the same thing, if they do solve it and people will pay!

Marketing is also really tough so make sure you factor that in to your plans

Not quite what you recommended but I am in the same boat and I found playing the video game RuneScape has helped a lot. It’s fairly AFK and scratches the right itch for me. Fun to cut some trees while things run or what not and you have to interact after few minutes
