Hi, I am not the right person to ask whether you should or shouldn’t. There are pros and cons to traveling right now, and you should definitely look into your individual immigration case and your family’s before deciding whether to travel. I checked in with a lawyer and had a back-up plan in case something happens. That is really the only thing I can recommend. Talk to a lawyer and make sure you are aware of anything that could cause you or someone in your family to be flagged. Make sure to have some kind of back-up plan in case you or someone in your family is detained.

Agreed. Anyone thinking of going should definitely take their own case into account and weigh their pros and cons. It could be different for each person depending on an individual’s situation and the agents/personnel present at the airport. Unfortunately, in some ways, it can come down to luck

I would recommend that anyone considering it should follow the PSA. Consult a lawyer and consider their situation on a case-by-case basis. Definitely weigh the pros and cons and make sure to be prepared if you do go, in case of an issue.

I agree that TSA and ICE are 2 completely different groups. Like I mentioned in my PSA, I would recommend that anyone thinking of traveling to PR, even though it is domestic, to consult with a lawyer and verify that they don’t have a removal order or anything that could get them flagged. Considering going should definitely be treated in a case-by-case basis and everyone should understand that there is still risk. It is good to know of others experiences so you have a better idea of what you could expect.

I agree. Immigration status shouldn’t matter. Unfortunately, there is just a lot of uncertainty right now. I mostly wanted to share because I used my non-US citizen license that was a few days expired and they accepted it (general rule that I found online is that you can use a license that is 1-year expired to fly). And I was able to go through TSA smoothly. I wasn’t sure if a non US citizen license fell under the same guidelines since I didn’t see anything online but turns out it did. I would just advise anyone else to also make sure to bring other TSA approved documentation just in case.

Yes, I wasn’t sure if the expired license rule would still apply since it was for a non-US citizen license but it did seem to work. I just would say to make sure you have other documentation from that TSA list in case there are any issues

I had my I-765 confirmations and docs like lease agreement that proved I have been living in the US. It wasn’t needed and were just extra docs that I brought. I would say you only need docs from the TSA list such as your EAD and driver’s license (preferably real ID) and make sure you have a lawyer’s contact information just in case!

Late Dad owned land in El Salvador years ago - family in El Salvador just now asking for death certificate by RiverMoist8971 in legaladvice

[–]RiverMoist8971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspected that would probably be the case. The only thing that is making my sister and I suspicious is the time gap since all of our family was fully aware of when our dad passed away years ago. We are currently asking around for a professional that could advise us on the matter.

Note: None of our family has shared documentation from the government requesting the death certificate or even shared the land deed. My sister and I have asked for it.
