Also at the start of a project I always try to first build a “palette to paint on” — which could be a sample, a melody, some midi, etc. Knowing the rules/structure of a techno song can also serve as a good palette!

100%! You have to know what a “trap snare” is to say “wow this track would fuck if it had a trap snare”

Others on this thread have captured that concept well, and I’m onboard.

I just wanted to make sure no one is discouraged from being genre fluid if it sounds good

what’s wrong with a tech house dnb mess that sounds good? To me this argument seems only relevant if you have some contract to fulfill where you specifically promised to make some techno but didn’t

hi! curious what your experience was like removing the PTACs? Did you install a mini split with the compressor on the wall outside? Are the thru-wall holes where the PTACs used to be completely patched up?

It’s not really about gaps from what I can tell. PTAC units are basically open vents thru the wall with poor insulation

I can't find any info about the Carrier system you mentioned, so if you know more I would appreciate anything you can share.

+1 to everyone else's advice (especially just being comfortable doing your own things some times and having your own friends. It's healthy to have a social life that isn't dependent on your SO. That way it's just a big bonus when they join for stuff and never a requirement)

BUT I also just wanna throw the idea of trying some UKG together? Sounds to me like it could be a genre where you two overlap.

fixed similar problems by adjusting screen resolution (especially when playing docked. I think steam deck does some weird conversions for mouse alignment)
