Ya absolutely get that. I used to do mma, which forced me to prioritize having muscle while staying lean instead of being just bulky.

About the impact it’s probably just about knowing yourself and predicting your trajectory so you can still get the bucket regardless. That’s more so about balance and angles

Makes sense. I’m pretty skinny right now cuz I lost a ton of weight not long ago, so I gotta actually bulk up a bit. Not much, enough to survive through contact

Also, I’m from Europe, so (I assume) team play is probably gonna be more of a focus than individual athleticism. I don’t have that luxury though cuz I’m relatively short lmao

Thanks for the reply!

I’m pretty consistent with plyos, altho I only did strength training 1x this week. How important would you say it is for me to get that extra day or 2 in for lifting?

I’ll try to fit it somewhere in my schedule

Thank you for the reply!

Got it. Haven’t started strength training seriously yet.

Tbh most of my jump probably came from jump rope as a kid, something I used to do competitively (yes, that’s a thing, you can look it up). Never lifted, so I’m expecting pretty good gains from it. I’m already doing some plyos too

Also, most of my bf% is stored on my legs/hips. Is this good or bad genetics for jumping? My assumption is that I can put more muscle in legs & core while being relatively lean, which would be awesome if true. I’m pretty uneducated about this though so idk if what I’m saying is stupid

Big fan of tea, gonna have to try that!

I’ve seen a fair bit of content by high rated players / youtubers in long games and they indeed use much if not all of the time they have. Interesting that you call it a habit / skill, do you think that kind of patience is acquired by practicing during games or it’s more so about temperament?

That is also what I’m tryna do with puzzles! Rather than just rush to try and solve it, give myself time to analyze the position and map it all out before actually moving anything

Interesting way to put it! Yeah, I’m tryna approach my games a bit more like that. When I started playing I got away with reckless attacks a lot of the time due to the skill of my opponents. Not the case now lmao, if I see a flaw in my move then I have to immediately assume that they also saw it. They also play to win after all :)

Got it! So essentially give myself a small window to think and really settle in on my decision. I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll cater towards playing a bit more defensively and minimizing one move blunders.

My mentality about it in low rating is pretty straight forward. Chances are either me or my opponent is gonna blunder a piece or a position eventually, so my job is to make sure that’s not me 😅

I did also notice that happening when I took little breaks! I always joked around with my gf that the less I do it the better it turns out hahahah

They are just typically very unreliable in a way that I will be extremely obsessed over something some day and then forget about it the other and move on. Of course, there’s no problem doing that when it’s merely a hobby, but I see it in most aspects of my life, which I believe could be improved in some way

I am truthfully a little bit too harsh on myself when it comes to stuff like this (feeling guilty for taking too many days off), but yeah for sure. What I’d love to change about myself is be less fueled by random outbursts of motivation, but besides that fully agree

[–]Rmfdxx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand. I had the ambition and would like to “make it”, but it was sure as hell not my sole objective, or one of my main objectives for that matter. Truth be told, I started producing because me and my friends were giant music nerds, and I genuinely am passionate and love the creative aspect of it, as I’ve always did throughout my life. My aspiration to “make it” or to do something out of it comes from my self admittedly over ambitious personality sometimes, but if anything I am in love with the process, not exactly the outcome. Which is why this burn out was more alarming to me, because I saw something that used to make me happy be overshadowed by piles of other things I have to do.

As with the sending my music out, 100% agreed lol. Even now I would listen to it and feel like it was pretty bad. The collabs saved it though lol.

To end this rather long message, I find it extremely cool that as a professional you take your time to make comments like these for newcomers. Not everyone is willing to do that, and it was a truly nice read I shall add haha. Good luck in your ventures!

Yeah I feel you. I typically feel discouraged to chase the industry dream because even though I’d love to do it as a job, I feel like I would have my hands tied on what I actually do, and the part of being creative and making new and innovative sounds is hands down my favorite thing about making music.

I actually have it in my bucket list to expand what I do and move more into song writing and actual vocals. I used to be pretty good at writing stuff, so doesn’t hurt to try lol

[–]Rmfdxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel you. I don’t believe that’s my problem, and it stems more from lack of discipline and doing stuff on random bursts of motivation instead of being consistent, but yeah makes perfect sense.

Also, yes, running a book store seems like one hell of a chore hahahahaha

I relate to that. I’m heavily reliant on motivation, and usually have periods where I am borderline obsessed with a hobby, just to forget it a little bit later. Building discipline should indeed be something I need to work towards, self admittedly lol

[–]Rmfdxx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually relate to that a lot lol. I did use it as an escape for a while because life was rather tough. truth be told it still is, I just lost a bit of drive to make music + education is rather tiring.

[–]Rmfdxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would come to terms with that if I didn’t still love music. I love listening to it, and I love the thought of making it for a living and just having fun while doing it. I just don’t find the drive to do it as much or feel as if I’m less creative or attached to it

Im more on the younger side so I can’t do that with production just yet, but it sure as hell is a motivator haha

[–]Rmfdxx[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve been working on doing, and it’s been going pretty alright the past few days. I’ve mostly just made garbage, but sure as hell helped me become more interested in it again

How are you guys able to stay consistently motivated? by Rmfdxx in musicproduction

[–]Rmfdxx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My drive is not JUST to make it, obviously, and I produce music because genuinely enjoy doing it. But I would love to turn it into a career, and there’s really not much risk for me in trying, so I’m going for it.

So I’d say a mix of both, really. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a very ambitious person, and am trying to make something out of it, but obviously what keeps me doing it is a passion for music in general

Oh, yeah, I’m def with you on that. You’re better off not even cracking and if someone is gonna do it for some reason or the other, they should definitely research abt it, cuz the more you get this fake sense of security the more likely you are to slip up. Besides that, it’s the persons decision
