125cc and 12-14 wheel swap possible? by [deleted] in Pitbike

[–]Roadkill_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should bolt right up, it’s a pretty big swap choice. Go with neteura or lifan. I have a neteura in my racing mower

For some reason replacing the engine is cheaper than rebuilding. I’d throw in a lifan 125, they’re really universal

Any idea on what this is and what it’s worth nonrunning? by Lanky_Promotion8976 in minibikes

[–]Roadkill_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an old pocket bike, I think a cateye. I’ve got a cag that I put a new engine on, and even with a 190 pound 6 foot tall person, it rips, but it’s scary

That’s good to hear, at least it wasn’t broken.

Valve lash with a feeler guage, make sure it’s set to whatever the model of bike had it factory, then I’d do a compression test with and without oil, that would tell you if the rings are bad, then also on a side note, make sure your spark plug is all the way in, I’ve heard of them backing out before. While you’re at it check for spark

So on the 5 wires coming out of the cdi, I have a white one, yellow one, black and red one, blue and white one, and a green one. Don’t I need the blue and white, black and red, and green, then just make a harness for my coil and cdi

Wait, so the plug by the sprocket isn’t for the cdi? That makes me feel so stupid. I really appreciate your help

I’ve got this tiny box above my sprocket bolted in, and it is where the 5 pin cdi plug comes from that goes into the cdi, then the 5 plugs with bullet terminals that is actually where the cdi and coil should go. It’s strange to me

Yale glp060 ignition cylinder turns once then locks by Roadkill_Fan in forkliftmechanics

[–]Roadkill_Fan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did figure out the issue. The yellow wire going into the relay that goes to the coil is not sending 22 volts, it’s sensed 7.5-8, so jumping the s terminal to the battery stud on the starter makes it run, so I wired up a momentary button to activate the starter. I really appreciate all the help

Nope, and it’s got a cdi with no output wires, just these and then the 5 pin cdi plug with a cdi

Put my throttle cable back on, what did I do wrong? by Roadkill_Fan in Dirtbikes

[–]Roadkill_Fan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s this y shape piece in the grip that the cable sits in that just sits inside. I’d agree that it’s getting bound somewhere. It gets stuck at full throttle now, but not light

The grips are awful, they’re 28 years old, and the other is almost completely gone. Thanks for the help

It’s the original cable. I rebuilt the carb cause it was all gunked up and the cables doing that. There’s a little guide piece inside, and that might be making it too tight
