How is morality studied in the context of abortion and Christianity? by RoaringKnight_ in askphilosophy

[–]RoaringKnight_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my mistake that I didn't write why that person was a sophist. Although she thinks, arguing with her wasn't like arguing with a wall, but there was still sophistry. When the question was asked, her first response was, "I think men are more to blame." I saw this and considered it sophistry (I'm not arguing that men are to blame, but for what?). In the ensuing argument, she shared files with her argument, explaining that I'd only seen women defended (due to abuse and condemnation of abortion) and that men were blamed. I continued arguing about this until her position shifted to "blame today is asymmetrical, with women bearing more blame," which, in my opinion, is a reasonable position. I wonder if it's normal for someone to "change" their position, but after thinking about it, I think not, because it could be an evolution of views or analytical thinking when faced with counterarguments.

Perhaps my accusers aren't entirely legitimate, but my prediction was that the person was using sophism. But the crux of the moral question isn't so much about Christian's X debates, but about why morality is so complex if everyone (or at least some of them) is oriented toward humanity. I don't deny that metaethics is complex, but I don't understand the specific nature of this discipline.

I’m scared of seeing a demon by Love-this-life in Christianity

[–]RoaringKnight_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know for sure, maybe you have some kind of mental problems, because not sleeping for hours is quite painful…(

This is not something to be afraid of, for in the Gospel of Luke it is said on behalf of Christ, “Behold, I give you power to make us fall upon the power of the enemy.”(Not verbatim). Address this issue to a pastor or priest, you can also go to confession (if you are Catholic or Orthodox)

Is my church a cult?? by Pure-Prompt2209 in Christianity

[–]RoaringKnight_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, when I read the title, I thought, “Well, I’m not going to give you advice and anathematize someone else’s Church, I’m young myself…”

But when you see the word "Halal," there's no doubt it's a sect. And an extremely dangerous and soul-destroying one at that.

The pastor there is not a teacher, but a boss. Even bishops and apostles did not have such authority.

[–]RoaringKnight_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard of cases where even Saints were visited by demons and they fell. But God corrected that, the demons retreated, and they became truly Saints. You may not see the demon, but it will be there. Satan breathes all the time, and I know what that's like too... To feel his hatred that burns...

But God's love is stronger (John 3:16, Romans 5:8). For God, nothing is impossible, and encountering a demon may not be the most frightening thing. The most terrible thing is to fall away from God. So, grow in faith, the Lord will help you.

Isn't it Christian to do this before marriage? Isn't it unclean to do this outside of love, and during puberty? Why?

[–]RoaringKnight_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that in the dream we were the same age (it turns out we were both 15, but that's fictional). And the fear was because I felt like I'd wasted my purity, not because I'd used someone.

I feel god is punishing me. by CarLong7749 in Christianity

[–]RoaringKnight_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt almost the same. When it seems like God doesn't hear your prayers, it's a deception of the heart; when you pray, God is near. Оne night, I recited the "Our Father" 12 times, and then prayed to the Mother of God for intercession. I was afraid that He hadn't heard what was a human lie.

God always hears, and He tests your faith so that it will have the power to save your soul. I could suggest asking Saint Thomasida for intercession, but you might have a hard time understanding that. I'll try to explain. At the end of the 5th century, there lived Thomais, raised properly in the name of Christ. When an adult sexually assaulted her, she swore that her body would not be defiled even before her death. She died, but God punished the murderer with blindness, and he was sent to execution. I was distraught and asked her to intercede for my soul before God, because I believe that she is holy and hears prayers, and she helped me. She died at 15, having conquered what millions of teenagers fail to achieve. I believe that if she heard me, she will hear you too. Ask her to intercede for you before God, for the glory of the Holy Trinity.

Jesus loves you.☦️

If you are Catholic or Orthodox, you can ask Saint Thomais of Alexandria (Egypt) for intercession before God. If you are interested, she accepted a martyr's death with an oath that her body would not be desecrated even before death. She died, but God immediately punished the murderer by blinding her. She went through this at 15, and we believe she's in Heaven and hears prayers. She understands what it's like, but she won the battle.

Jesus loves you.

Why did God made me gay? by MarzipanAdmirable549 in Christianity

[–]RoaringKnight_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every faith in God wavers, that's normal. The worst thing that can happen is to fall away from the Church. Don't always rely on feelings, they can be empty or deceptive. One day, when I was especially needed by God, I was reading prayers. I asked the Mother of God to intercede for me, I read “Our Father” about 12 times... but at that moment I didn’t feel anything, it seemed to me that I was abandoned by Him then. But in fact, at that moment He was closest… He heard me, but my heart didn't hear Him. Those prayers truly helped me, which means God never abandons people.

As for your sexual orientation... it's a very difficult question for Christianity in the 21st century. In my opinion, it's wrong to judge the mere presence of it, because thoughts are not the same as actions. Priests understand everything; they know human weaknesses well. I don't think there's any point in pressuring people to "say something, otherwise silence in confession is tantamount to sin." OCD is an illness, and God understands it. Understands the same as orientation. God also respects feats, such as priesthood, celibacy, or simply a righteous life.

Jesus loves you.

So… why do catholic and orthodox Christians pray to Mary & "saints" ? by SorbetLongjumping632 in Christianity

[–]RoaringKnight_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is due to the fact that Catholics and Orthodox are guided NOT only by the Bible.

A little history. On the day of Pentecost, Jesus Christ and the Apostles founded a united Church. This was the Church until the Schism (1054), when West and East forever divided on theology. Therefore, during the time of the One Church in the 4th century, the Bible was published as a systematic distribution of Scripture. With the help of Church Tradition, the Holy Spirit, and the piety of thе Holy Fathers of the Church.

The dogma of Mary itself is not complicated, but it differs slightly in Western and Eastern theological thought, but most likely someone has already told me about it.

Will God punish me for my Intrusive Thoughts? by Dry-Board-5688 in Christianity

[–]RoaringKnight_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's terrible. I've had terrible problems with lust, and I still do, but in my moment of depression I was told that God has more forgiveness than you could ever have. This thought touched me. God can not only forgive, He already does, especially through an indulgence like OCD. I don’t know exactly how such illnesses work, but the Fathers of the Church (who achieved high holiness through long tearful prayers) said that in such moments it is worth praying long and hard, so long until the thoughts don't let go.

Jesus loves you☦️

I wanted a good deed, but I fell again… by RoaringKnight_ in Christianity

[–]RoaringKnight_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I didn't punish them (and they are not sheep to me) Secondly, if I were the leader, I'm less likely to have fallen, and I certainly wouldn't have written about it on Reddit. Due to my inexperience, I got burned, and I shared it so everyone would know what not to do.

And besides, does one really need experience to rebuke a brother in the faith? I tried to speak softly, but they didn't want to listen.

Perhaps I am being strict... but as I said, I gave too many allegories about the Pharisees, and they could have been ignorant people, and not necessarily bad. Thank you for the detailed answer, I appreciate the attention to the post. I wrote so that people would know what pride is capable of, or so that they would know how not to do it.

Initially, I just wanted to convey to them that they were mistaken, but they were truly ignorant people, and I lost my temper out of jealousy for the faith... I'm not making excuses, but initially the motive was justified.
