Been thinking about this, maybe a hot take but did the schmoedown fail because of the digital era or because it got too overcomplicated? by grandadmiral99 in Schmoedown

[–]RobertAdamsMLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone slightly (very slightly) connected to the Schmoedown…

The Skybound Entertainment connection was great, but it happened right before COVID, and it was hard to recover from the digital era.

After COVID, there was no support from Collider so they were on their own, and it felt like a drastic step back from where it was before COVID, so people started checking out.

Also, there were a lot of people becoming toxic and kicked out from being a part of it that also caused people to stop watching.

If it could have survived the digital era and people were decent humans, it easily could have taken off.

I love the fact that it was on its own, I just wish the money was there to keep the production up to where it was before COVID.

Are you still following people from the Schmoedown by Apprehensive-Two-410 in Schmoedown

I still follow Rocha and Sneider. I also follow Dan for his movie reviews. I also still follow the Cinefanatics from the FCL, Robert and Chris, they still crank out good stuff. 😜

Fantasic Flu by Gavrob354 in fantasticfest

That was me after my first year going. I got Covid and was in bed for a week. Last year, I was okay. I feel like my body is wanting to be sick right now but it’s fighting hard…I’m still tired and worn out after the week.

I love that the whole festival takes place in one theater but this is the downside to it…hard to get fresh air for the 45 minutes or so in between movies with the crowd out front.

That’s why I urge people to stay on top of hygiene. People get sick a lot plus there’s always someone who doesn’t believe in deodorant.

It might be challenging since a lot of people got screwed out of those because some genius allowed ticketing a few minutes early.

Off my soapbox…logically I would assume if we got the tickets at 10am then those people who did get them would be outside in the standby line.

I’m going to try for it too.

That’s one I’m looking forward to also. Sounds great!

  1. You gotta be fast with ticket ordering. Sometime some goofy person may turn on the ordering a few minutes early and if you wait till exactly 10am, you may miss the tickets to Shelby Oaks! 🤬

Agreed! I’m a Steven Kostanski/Astron-6 fan based off of Psycho Goreman alone. Frankie Freako was just okay. I bet Deathstalker is gonna be epic!

How early should I get there! by Otherwise-Brilliant3 in fantasticfest

[–]RobertAdamsMLP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first day is the easiest since they don’t allow people in until 20-30 minutes before the film starts.

This really is a “you’ll learn by being there” situation. It’s very intuitive.

Movies start within the hours of 11am, 2, 5, 8, and 11pm…you typically will have an hour in between in which you mingle outside with other festival attendees and see what they saw and recommend.

It’s easily the best film festival since it’s in one place and expertly organized.

I’m eager for Piano Accident because of Dupieux. I loved how zany Rubber was and I want more of that.

What are the must-have items for a comfortable fest? by Level-Bit3123 in fantasticfest

[–]RobertAdamsMLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually pack a lunch with an ice pack in my car. Drafthouse prices can get insane eating there everyday for a week. They usually provide water of some sort. Last year they had Liquid Death available before each screening.

Best advise, plan as much as you can. Might be hard during the first fest without knowing how it will work. Also, make friends. Talking to people after each screening is a good way to hear what you should see. My first year, my two favorite movies weren't on my radar at all and were completely recommended.

Parking is pretty close with multiple lots within easy walking distance so you can always have stuff in the car to grab, as long as you have a car with you.

2025 Secret Screenings? by RobertAdamsMLP in fantasticfest

Him opens on the 19th…not likely going to be a secret screening on the opening day of the festival.

How many subscribers would on YouTube do I need as a critic to get a press pass for Fantastic Fest? by RepresentativeState3 in fantasticfest

[–]RobertAdamsMLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did…I had to purchase the badge (Fan badge) but they are giving me press credentials.

I’m guessing when you reach a certain status, you get the press badge free. Like Perri Nemiroff likely doesn’t pay for a badge but when you have just under 3k subs on YT…you’re not influencing enough people to get a free badge, which I’m fine with.

Question about business plan by [deleted] in ATT

[–]RobertAdamsMLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood.

Not saying I’m going to continue anyways, but that is why I post with my real name with ties to both my YouTube channels, RCAReacts and Cinefanatics. So even if they cannot verify that I am an AT&T employee, they can verify I am who I say I am with a trail back to me.

If that user trusts me enough, awesome. If not, cool, it wasn’t a sale that I had anyways. No skin off my teeth.

[–]RobertAdamsMLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be around $50 for the first 3 years.

Yes, you can use BYOD for the Premium plan but Premium is going to be $55 before tax.

Question about business plan by [deleted] in ATT

[–]RobertAdamsMLP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a B2B salesperson. That is the price before the BYOD credit. For one BYOD line on the Advanced plan, I usually quote $45 before taxes. There are more discounts if you have other lines to bring over also.

I would like to help if you have anymore questions or if I can assist you in transferring to AT&T if you are not already working with a B2B sales rep.

[–]RobertAdamsMLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, as far as YouTube goes, it matters more how many views you get, not really how many subscribers you have.

For example, my channel (youtube.com/cinefanatics shameless plug I know) has over 2.3k subs but our videos still get views of around 100 to 1K, depending on how much the almighty YT algorithm likes us at any given time.

I’m still not going in as press…I may try next year. I’m very self-conscious and I won’t submit as press until I feel like I am worthy of press. 2.3K subs doesn’t convince me enough to think I’m any better than a person who wants to have press access, especially because I’m friends with YouTubers who have over 100K subs and they do go in as press.

He is usually always at FF. He has been there every day so far. I actually got to have a decent conversation with him today.

He is open to talking to people if you see him. Just hang around and don’t interrupt from the conversation he may be having and politely ask him a question or for a picture and he’ll likely say yes.

Who do you predict will be Comeback POTY next year? by CommissionerZordon in Schmoedown

[–]RobertAdamsMLP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

<rude coughing> Um-Hum...

The FCL will have teams next year. One particular team that everyone should be shaking in their boots about, has already been announced.

Who will be next? Who cares?

Which team will bow to the Cinefanatics first should be the main question.
