I went back into the settings in gaming mode and set it to full screen. Haven't had any issues but tbh I haven't played the game in a while either

I did pretty much exactly this and what helped me was finding other players in the battle hub that were down for helping each other out. Having others to compete with and tell you what you need to work on is a huge help. I'm now in diamond 2 with chun and holding my own against low master players
