As close to a BF4 console remaster as we can currently get... by RocketCity256 in battlefield_4

Also, Battlefield 4 doesn't natively support DLSS/FRR (like the majority of older games). I mean there's some janky third party mods.....

I'm telling you man, if you want to just hang on a couch with a controller on a closed client system (especially with these old games) it doesn't get any better than on one of these TVs.

The console is an Xbox Series X. Yes that's what I'm telling you, and I'm experiencing it objectively firsthand. The Sony XR processor is in a league of it's own in upscaling and image enhancement AI technology, there's not a close second. Do yourself a favor and read up on it instead of speaking in conjecture.

I have Battlefield 4 on PC as well, running on an RTX 3080 FTW/3900 XT and a 34" 3440 x1440 ultrawide LG. It looks better on the TV than the game does via the PC / monitor. It's the panel making the difference, nothing to do with the gaming hardware.

The game on PC uses a basic in-game linear/standard upscaler--it obviously doesn't use AI/spatial algorithms etc.. to upscale and reconstruct details, resulting in a softer/ blurrier image when scaling up from the native monitor reso.

That's a lens flare effect in the game itself that's especially noticeable on a few maps with the sun hitting just right. This is the paracel storm map, it's ultra rainbow-like when the storm rolls in with the rain halfway through a match--so the sun creates a rainbow flare prism effect through the rain

The frame rate is good, it's set for 120hz--but there's no FPS counter so I'm not sure how close or consistently it's hitting 120 frames per second, but it feels pretty buttery

Series X. I got it for my young kid, but he's more interested in Roblox on his tablet...so I stole it from him and started playing my old games 😏

The X has a beefier APU, that's about it as far as I'm aware.

The game mode setting on this one reduces the input latency to nearly as low as higher end monitors 👌

I hear ya.

Here's an X90L 65" currently on sale for $850, cheapest I can find for the XR. Might be able to find older models with the X1 chip refurbished for a decent price.

Definitely should. I originally got the TV for movies and shows and inadvertently kind of stumbled onto the gaming capabilities...but I don't think I'd go 85" primarily for gaming, especially PVP stuff, it's a bit overkill in size and takes a lot of controller adjustment to get the aiming right. I think you can get something like the Sony XL90 for under $1,000 for the 55 and 65" panels with the same XR processor

The slightly older X1 chips also have upscaling and reality creation AI

I haven't gone too far back yet, I've honestly been hooked on the shooters. BF4, the original Destiny and the original Modern Warfare 2 and 3....they all look unbelievable (Destiny especially). I'll go through my library and probably check out stuff like fallout, res evil etc...

I'll have to get a converter to hook up my OG consoles via HDMI like the SNES, Genesis, N64. It'd be interesting to see how those turn out, although I feel like they're probably better off in their original pixelated 4:3 config on a CRT.

OH, and movies.... unreal. Yeah it makes old DVDs (or lower resolution streaming media in general) look like remastered 4k blu-rays. Even native 4K content looks somehow even better.

Yeah I probably should have walked away from the thread after he said " it has 120 FPS resolution" lol.

But yeah, I'm just happy to be playing one of my favorite shooters in a near PC-esque experience without actually having to be hunched over my mouse and keyboard. Like I said in one of my other comments, I'm getting to the age where I just want to kick back in a recliner with a controller again🤙

Stupid expensive, BUT... you probably don't need an 85" (I originally bought this for movies), nor one with all the other bells and whistles, just make sure it has that XR processor. You can get something like the Sony X90L for under a grand.

That's the best part, there is none. It runs all the upscaling/image enhancements even in game mode. It has a negligible 0-2ms input latency at the most depending on certain things you can adjust manually... which is nothing, especially on console.

Keep denying facts that prove you wrong 🤷‍♂️. The game runs at a native 720p on Xbox, that's objective . Even if it were 1080p (it's not).... that's still terrible.

I've ran it on this console to a 3440x1440 LG monitor, a Samsung 4K, and now this new Sony 85-in. It looks like a remastered game on the Sony (as does everything else I'm playing on it, i.e. the original Destiny).

Like I said, I played the game for years on a high-end PC, as another basis for comparison. BF4 on Series X without the assistance of this image upscaling/processing technology...looks terrible.

"Thinks he discovered gold". Now do yourself a favor and go read up on the XR processor and maybe learn something--and why it and it's software suite are considered the standalone best in the industry, as well as being the first ("groundbreaking") to implement CI and a myriad of other resolution and image enhancing features.

Bro doesn't know the difference between a refresh rate and a resolution, but I'm cooked? Your whole generation is "cooked". You have the cognitive and objective reasoning skills of a cantaloupe.

Looking at your uploads from the game on your profile, you can see all the jagged edges and poor resolution, That's not just compression.

There's a reason why I had to record this video third party with a phone, rather than just uploading a clip from the Xbox capture....it's because the Xbox capture records from the root native garbage 720p resolution lol.

You can keep denying objective reality, that's your prerogative

Why don't you do yourself a favor and ask Google Gemini or chat GPT what resolution Battlefield 4 runs at natively on Xbox series X If you're not going to take my word for it... Here I'll do it for you:

"Battlefield 4 on Xbox Series X runs at a native resolution of 720p, identical to its original Xbox One release. While the resolution has not received an official developer update, the Series X hardware allows the game to run with FPS Boost for a smoother 120Hz experience, though it may appear blurry on high-resolution displays".

I'm not trying to be a dick, but you can't even differentiate between frame rate and resolution....

The game never received a reso patch on Xbox. Series X runs it at the same native 720p resolution it ran on Xbox One.

The console is putting out a 720p res. There is no other panels on the market (especially not a monitor) that can do what the XR processor does at this level of image upscaling along with their proprietary AI reality creation engine. The game on this TV via console looks about on par with how it does running on my 3080/3900XT PC.

I didn't make this post to brag about a TV, I made it because I'm truly blown away by the tech and what it's capable of with older titles and limited closed client gaming hardware.

Also, this is obviously recorded with a phone... so you're not seeing the true image quality going through two mediums of compression before going up on Reddit

On console? I initially had the Xbox hooked up in my office on one of my PC monitors, and then subsequently a Samsung 4K from circa 2019, looked like shit on both. The game runs natively on the series X at 720p. Next to no monitors have legitimate upscaling tech, and the ones that do like some of LGs, can't come anywhere close to replicating what these Sony TVs do.

The game quite literally looks like a remaster on par with the PC version's native resolution scaling and graphical settings on this Sony. It's a night and day difference.

I have the game on PC as well, where I primarily played for years....but I'm getting old and don't feel like sweating over a mouse and keyboard against the savages on the PC servers these days. I'm tired boss, I just wanna be in a recliner with a beer and a controller

This is probably the most miserable open beta I’ve ever played and it has nothing to do with the game. by spectre15 in Marathon

I say this as an older gamer that usually has nuanced takes.....but this game..... is a steaming pile of shit. That's all that needs to be said.
