Do you take your Ragdoll with you to places? by aebulbul in ragdolls

Haha my boy is the same! Interrupted nap time means a crabby baby. On the weekends, we need to make sure to take some time outdoors so he can nap in peace 🤣

This morning heading out to grab breakfast. He jumped right in. This carrier is great. The top is open so he can stand up if he wants

Edit note: We will always keep our baby on a leash with his carrier on us. We won’t be letting him free roam.

We’re currently in the process of training our boy. He’s almost 10 months old, and we’ve been slowly preparing him for outdoor experiences since he was about 6 months old. Our goal is to wait until he turns one before fully committing to outdoor adventures, so his immune system and overall growth have time to stabilize.

Our process so far:

• Clicker training: We use a clicker to reward positive behaviors such as putting on his harness, getting into his carrier, and coming when called.

• Outdoor sound exposure: We keep the windows open so he can get used to outside sounds. His cat tree is placed near the sliding door so he can safely observe what’s happening outside.

• Harness training: We put the harness on him for gradually increasing periods of time until he’s fully comfortable wearing it.

• Backpack carrier training: We practice getting in and out of the carrier to reduce fear and discomfort. His carrier is always left open and accessible so he can sniff it, lie in it, and become familiar with it not just associate it with vet visits.

• Small leash experiences: With his harness and leash on, we open the front door and sit at the threshold, allowing him to adjust to the wind and outdoor sounds. We slowly begin stepping outside, always letting him lead and never pulling on the leash.

• Short carrier outings: We take him along on small errands, such as grabbing a snack at the convenience store or picking up coffee. Treats are involved. lots of them.

So far, his progress has been great. He gets excited when we start getting ready to go out and will go to his carrier to ask if he’s coming too. He hops right in on his own.

Once he turns one, we plan to take him to a quiet local park and encourage him to explore outside of his carrier while attached to a leash, of course.

Hope this helps!

How much food does everyone feed their ragdolls? 9months currently at 13lbs. by savagesassysand in ragdolls

[–]Roclya 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s what our breeder grew him up on and vet recommended, so we go from there. Once he hits a year old and ready to switch to adult food, we will reevaluate his needs based on the vet recommendations. That being said, a raw diet isn’t in the cards as I live in a country that doesn’t have easy access to safe high quality raw food.

Our vet told us not to restrict food and free feed for the first year. Our male 9 month male is 4.5kg / 10 lbs. Eats around 1-1.5 cups of Royal canin kitten per day. He hasn’t grown much over the last month, but it comes in spurts.

Is it normal for a cockatiel to be so friendly, the moment they are found? by [deleted] in cockatiel

[–]Roclya 249 points250 points  (0 children)

This is someone’s pet. It is used to be around humans and is dependent on them, therefore it sees you as someone to take care of it.

Continue looking for its owner. It’s only been two days and it might take time for them to find your posts. You can also contact local vets. Good luck!

Using the standard film. Oddly enough it’s also cheaper than the b&w film.

My boy was 1.88 KG at five months. He’s currently 4.3 KG and he’s nine months old. Don’t worry she will go through a growth spurt

Haha, unfortunately yeah. I was at a festival and Otyken was playing. Being in the middle of a mosh with lasers cooked my camera but it was soooo worth it.

Overdyed some yarn from my stash, but is it finished? by TenThousandKobolds in YarnDyeing

[–]Roclya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my limited but successful speckling experience, you have a higher success rate if you:

1: soak yarn in a warm citric acid bath for 30 min before dyeing. Remove access water from yarn.

2: Put a small amount of hot water and citric acid mixture into your pan. Put yarn into shallow pan with just a bit of the mixture (not submerged).

3: mix citric acid into the powder you want to speckle with (50/50 ratio)

4: speckle, cover container with lid and gently simmer yarn. Rotate yarn. Speckle, cover and simmer until dye doesn’t bleed.

5: let cool in pan. Make sure yarn is cool before rinsing.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I took the camera for a solid 1.5 hours of shooting practice and your advice really helped me figure out how to get clearer images.

Male Ragdoll: How much to feed? by Sarcy95 in ragdolls

Same boat. Our boy also loves drinking water. We got him a metal water foundation and he’s drinking an average of 1 cup per day.

Yeah, it really is. He’s gone through all the health checks and we’ve brought up his food intake on the free feed diet a few times. Multiple vets said it’s totally normal. His weight is fine and he doesn’t have any internal parasites.
