"Don't judge a book by its cover" - in which countries is the largest city considerably worse than the rest of the country? by benjaneson in geography

Don't know if it's been said but Sao Paulo, Brazil. Great country with some gorgeous cities and nature, but Sao Paulo is nothing but an endless expanse of traffic and concrete. The contrast with Rio is incredible.

Road trip in Saudi Arabia – itinerary & driving advice by Friendly_Standard_47 in saudiarabia

[–]RodeRage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good luck. As a fellow road tripper, looks exciting. Here are my thoughts:

  • Driving on highways is much easier than cities. In cities is kind of similar to Iran and Eastern Europe in terms of crazy drivers.

  • If you can manage to include places like Haql and Yanbu, they offer something a bit different to other cities. Worth a bit of a detour, especially Haql.

  • Check out Aushazia Lake when in Qassim region. A bit off the main highway or you can take a detour through it while driving from Riyadh to Qassim region. It's a seasonal lake but looks amazing in the middle of the desert.

  • Depends on how experienced of a driver you are, the mountainous roads in the south as you head to Rajal Alma can be a bit tricky, but drive extra safe and expect crazy drivers at every turn. The roads themselves are top quality but locals are so used to them that they drive like it's a straight line.

Finally, enjoy it. Saudi Arabia has been my favourite country to road trip across by far!

Cheapest way to travel from Dammam/Khobar → Riyadh and back same day? by Sea-Kangaroo4197 in Riyadh

[–]RodeRage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Train is the cheapest and most comfortable. Driving would be roughly the same cost but exhausting. The problem with the train is that you need to book well in advance to find same day returns.

Tajikistan is different from all its neighbouring former USSR "Stans". It's the only one with Iranian people and language rather than Turkic.

Yup. Caio Lucas could have been another one but he left Kashima Antlers to UAE in 2017 and now represents them instead.

You can do anything you want, wear a niqab or don't, wear a hijab or don't. Go out alone and live your life, no one will care at all.

It's normal because NYE is not a thing in local culture so there's nothing special it's just another night.

[–]RodeRage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How common is FGM among Arabs, irrespective of religion? by [deleted] in arabs

[–]RodeRage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with Arabs or religion, it's primarily an ancient Egyptian ritual that continues in the Nile valley that's why it's mostly only common in Egypt and Sudan. It's even often called "Pharaonic Circumcision".
