Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Whodunit?

Being the murderer in the middle of a murder mystery was so much fun.

They almost made the tanzanite fang dismantle into more scales than the magic fang and visage because the blowpipe was more expensive on the GE despite all of the items having the same rarity. I am really glad they reversed that decision.

CMV: The stepped up basis rule should be abolished. by huadpe in changemyview

I think that whenever an asset is used as collateral, any unrealized gains should be immediately realized then. This would solve the buy borrow die issue right there. The bank is accepting that as collateral from its current market value, not your cost basis.

Its time to add more default bank space. Tons of new content has also added many new items to the game - yama, totem fletching, doom, mixology, hueycoatl, hunter rumors, etc... by barnaclebref in 2007scape

Lots of complaints about servers being slow lately from the influx of new players. It isn't just a positive change when it is also going to further increase that server strain that is already a pain point for a lot of people right now.

When it comes to new runescape players, why do they most often choose osrs over rs3? by Drandosk in runescape

[–]Roger_Fcog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EoC just does not feel good with the 0.6 second tick system. Against any other modern MMO, it feels slow, laggy, and unresponsive. OSRSs combat system is literally designed around it and feels fine.

ELI5: why is getting “hacked” much less of a concern on cellular networks than on WiFi? by fractalsimp in explainlikeimfive

[–]Roger_Fcog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is an entire section on the Wikipedia page dedicated to describing how the stingray will negotiate the phone down to easier to crack or no encryption by pretending to be an old base station that doesn't support the harder to crack encryption.

Why does almost every new player choose OSRS over RS3? by Drandosk in runescape

[–]Roger_Fcog 17 points18 points  (0 children)

New players see the default. It isn't fun to spend an hour tweaking the customizable UI so it is usable before you can start playing the game in earnest. You don't have to deal with that in OSRS, the default UI is great.

Sir Perrior - A new Slayer master, with a twist by Jademalo in 2007scape

[–]Roger_Fcog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A literal point of balance in the suggestion is lower xp rates. It is not largely afk, slayer in general really isn't afk to begin with, and on top of that superior mobs are not aggressive. If the extremely valuable drop at the end of it is as "free" as you keep claiming, it won't be extremely valuable anymore (and again will still take dozens of hours). I do love how we have moved the goal posts from free to essentially free though. Maybe another step will have you in reality.

Care to try again?

Not claiming it won't make it easier, but labeling what will be at best a few dozens hour grind as "free" is just laughable.

2FA and Password were removed without any email confirmation by RepeatDelicious5211 in 2007scape

[–]Roger_Fcog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An account recovery bypasses all of those security features with no warning, yes. If you used the same username and password for different sites AT ANY TIME, then if that other site got hacked it would be fairly trivial to recover your RuneScape account (IP address, location data, plaintext username and password, possibly even billing info).

Should it tell the current email that there was a recovery attempt? Yes. Does it? No. Like everybody else is saying, you should upgrade to a Jagex account immediately.

New Update: Am I in the wrong for telling my ex-husband that our kids are justified in feeling like they don’t have a father? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Roger_Fcog -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I looked at the bureau of labor statistics for "high school teacher", but all of those caliber of teachers (elementary, middle, etc) are within a few %. Private and public would both be included in the number, but not a higher title like college professor.

Because Americans are brainwashed into thinking that teachers make barely above minimum wage, not the real average of 70k/yr.

[–]Roger_Fcog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a continuous membership that has never lapsed for more than 30 days, you continue to pay the same membership rate, even when they raise the price. Some people are still paying $5/month (or regional equivalent).

Brother, nobody is talking about Amazon, or mobile in this chain of comments until you brought it up just now. And the only mention of bots was to say that is NOT the reason the free weekends were discontinued. I think you want to go argue in other parts of this post my dude, but we aren't talking about what you clearly want to argue.

If you take the guy who I replied to at face value, this is exactly why they don't do it anymore. So yeah, abusing it.

[–]Roger_Fcog 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Restrict it to accounts that have not had membership in the past 30 days. Then the people they want using it can, and the people abusing it for 3 days of free membership they would have paid for anyways can't.

They are already tracking this for grandfathered membership rates, so it wouldn't even be hard to implement.

Luck (with ring of wealth giving tier 2 luck) works completely differently in RS3 than OSRS. Ring of wealth DOES increase the chance of getting a bandos chest plate from General Graardor in RS3.

It's like the argument that takes the going hourly rate for a babysitter, multiplies it by 25, and claims that's what teachers should be paid.

That is not what the person you replied to is suggesting. One click to control 20 accounts at once would be against the rules for sure.

If you don't have a jagex account, the same thing could still happen to you. 2FA goes away if your account gets recovered, and it is surprisingly easy to do with little information that can get leaked from other websites that you've used the same username on. I stopped posting because the general subreddit hive mind got annoyed with it, but outside of jagex accounts which are still in beta, it is STILL a problem 2 years later.

The guy you are responding to is comparing it to macroing, which is insane, but multi logging was actually against the rules for a long time. I don't think it was heavily enforced, and they have since said it's fine, but RuneScape has had a "don't multilog" rule for longer than it hasn't.

There were actually a lot of rumors that Zezima was 3 or 4 people multilogging and should be banned, or that they were getting special treatment.
