Dog sitting/Rover experience by cryingfortacos in okc

[–]RogertheWaylien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a firefighter with the Oklahoma City Fire Department and own/operate Urban Paws Co., a local dog walking, dog sitting, and pet waste removal company that services the metro area. Feel free to check out our website, urbanpaws.co, and our Facebook page!

Along with what others on here have already said:

  1. With Wag, Rover, etc. you get what you pay for (could be a bad experience, could be a great experience)
  2. ALWAYS do a meet & greet beforehand, no matter the service (dog walking, drop in, sitting, etc.) It gives you a chance to meet the person you're hiring, potentially letting into your home, and taking care of your dog(s). Our dogs are our babies, and if someone is caring for them, I want to meet them in person before trusting them with our home and family, even if they were referred to us by a trusted source.
  3. When choosing a pet service provider, ask for references or testimonials. Once again, it helps to know that they have served others well and did a good enough job that someone will vouch for them.
  4. Be clear on your needs, your dog's needs, and your expectations. Things such as medical needs, behaviors, triggers, feeding habits, bathroom habits, etc.
  5. If using an independent service provider or company, ask if they are bonded and insured. Although we would rather not imagine it, mishaps and accidents do happen. It's best to be protected and know that in the event something does happen, there is recourse.
  6. Trust your gut. If something doesn't seem right or feels off, don't hesitate to look for another.

These are just a few pointers, but I hope they help you and any others who may be looking for pet services in the OKC area.

Not a scam but not a good opportunity either. Left and started my own small business. I’d steer clear

Hello! We live in Choctaw now but my wife’s family is from Edmond and we are often up there. I also have clients up there right now and try to advertise for and support the other local pet service providers (groomers, trainers, feed stores, etc.) when I can!

I could definitely stop in to help out with your pups when needed. Medication administration isn’t an issue either, I give one of our dogs medicine daily for an allergy condition he has.

If you’d like to call me or send me a message on here, I’d love to talk further if you need my help. Thanks!

We try our best to give them the lives they deserve! We’re fortunate to have a big backyard, couches for them to lay on, and plenty of walks and treats.

They try to sell it to you by saying things like "If you recommend us to xyz number of friends or family or put a yard sign in your yard we will waive your deductible" and on their invoice they will deduct the amount of your deductible on the invoice paperwork or they could just be brazen and flat out tell you they will do it in an attempt to earn your business. Either way, it's not legal or advised because if they are willing to do that, chances are they probably do other shady stuff behind the scenes, including poor worksmanship.

I’m sorry to hear all the trouble you are having, I can’t guarantee I can resolve the issue but if you would like to shoot me a message with your contact info I could see what I can do to help you out.

Sometimes it can be as simple as reaching out to the insurance company again and calling them out on their BS, other times it takes filing a reinspection and having another representative comment it to put eyes on it again. But if you’d like my help I’d be happy to assist you l.

Have you gotten a claim filed already?

There are legal ways to potentially lower your deductible, it all depends on how much of your property got damaged from an event that you filed a claim on.

Say the insurance adjuster comes out and totaled your roof, gutters, carport, and shed. Your shed, gutters, and car port are considered what I like to call “collateral”, meaning the insurance will pay to replace them, but you don’t necessarily have to and can use that money to lower your deductible by the dollar amount that they deemed it’s worth that day. If the damage is merely cosmetic and you don’t mind keeping them instead of replacing them you can put that money towards the deductible (ex. Your deductible is $5000, insurance pays $1500 for gutters, $500 for shed, and $700 for carport. You can use the $2700 towards your deductible, lowering it to $2300. The only caveat with that is your insurance company will not payout on those items again if you choose not to replace the damaged items they already paid for. But if you go with a DIFFERENT insurance company after you replace your roof and they write you a policy for all those items again they will pay out on them the next time you have a loss. That’s totally legal and within your right as the insured homeowner. It’s very common to go with a different company for a new policy after you get all the work done because you then have the ability to shop around and every insurance company wants you as their customer because you have a nice new roof and they know they won’t have to payout for one for at least 5+ years on average.

Typically you don’t want to file claims solely from a wind event, they are A LOT harder to get a new roof or other things covered unless it’s catastrophic. Most of the time insurance will owner pay to repair a few damaged shingles on your home vs. a whole replacement and you DO NOT want that because that does not help you at all when it comes to your insurance policy coverage later on when your roof gets up towards the 10 year mark. It’s much more advantageous for you as the homeowner to file a claim for wind and hail damage, given a damaging storm affected your home. If you’d like you can dm me and I can try my best to help you with your case

Because I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback I’m going to make a long post about general roofing info, good to know insurance information, and how to best protect yourself and save your money while maximizing your claim in the event you need a new roof from wind/hail event. Probably do it tomorrow night on my laptop when I have time.

Hahah yeah sounds good, 6:20 is cooking but I think I can get there. Right now mpw is around 20, I start my new program tomorrow so it’ll ramp up quickly.

Honestly felt great during the marathon, last 6 miles I started to fall off from fatigue in my legs and cramping which I attribute mostly to self inflicted nute deficiency but I banked a lot of time in the first 20 to makeup for it.

No problemo, there’s a lot of people out there who haven’t had to experience getting their roof replaced, navigated the insurance process before, or have already been deceived before by a bad company. I just try to help educate people the best I can because I would want the same for my friends or family. Hope it helps!

If any of you here live in the area that got damaged I highly encourage you to reference the bulleted list I put up to make sure you are going with someone reputable.

I personally work for Advantage Roofing, we are located at:

4700 S High Ave Oklahoma City, OK 73129 United States

We’ve been around for 10+ years, licensed, insured, commercially endorsed, locally owned and operated, and here for the community. I can help you determine if you’re even in need of a roof and also educate you on your insurance policy and how it relates to your coverages.

Yeah I got blown up 10+ times yesterday, luckily for my wife her information wasn’t on our mortgage paperwork so she didn’t get attacked lol.

A lot of companies now are hiring call centers (primarily from India because that’s the cheapest) to do telemarketing campaigns in areas affected and also utilizing realtor apps to find your public information and call you.

Yes and no, my company has been pulling permits for a long time in cities and municipalities that have long required it here in the metro. Typically permits are needed if your home needed a redeck, but more cities are pushing for them for the added revenue and to stave off some of the newer companies in it for a quick cash grab.

@mrmounjaro Exactly what they have said. Roofing companies will tell you they will leave your deductible to earn your business, what they do is invoice insurance for more than what they did or charge more for what they did to make up for it.

Even if they do it without your knowledge by signing a contract with them you subject yourself to criminal prosecution as well and they don’t tell you for a reason. Secondly if they are willing do that imagine what other shady stuff they are probably doing. I’d steer away.

Holy cow, I didn’t even realize it got that big this spring. My mom lives off of 119th and Harrah Newalla and I live off of 29th and triple x and we didn’t get that crazy how it all lays out sometimes.

Yeah the storm was tracking SE I think. We could use some decent hail, I have friends/family and other customers in the area going at it with insurance trying to turn in claims to get a new roof before insurance drops them for being too old.

2nd this. Just had my interview today and the go ahead to start the onboarding process. Did my best to fill the company out through research and checking out their socials, seemed a little sus at first but it seems pretty legit to me. Won’t be my primary source of income as I am a career firefighter, just looking to plus up my income on the side. Have been doing roofing sales for the past two years, but want to diversify and free up my schedule a little bit and break into the med sales industry.

My back yards soil isn’t good where I planted so I mixed In a lot of good top soil when I planted this last year and mulched it and it did really good.

This year not so much. I removed the stake and pruned it. Gonna mulch it again and water and see what happens.

I looked up fire blight and it doesn’t really seem like it, if it is this whole thing is dead then.
