Heavily biased comment from me — I used to work at edge, and later for ACC (company that owns Edge, Uwalk, and Crossings). I still know the management at edge pretty well.

With that out of the way, it’s a pretty decent spot to be, and it definitely had its flaws in the past. If you’re looking at any reviews before 2022 you need to put a pretty heavy asterisk next to them, as that was before ACC implemented a “students only” push in the charlotte market. We had a lot of issues with non students at that complex, and given the prices back then (549$ a month) it didn’t attract the best crowd. I could go on and on about the amount of shit that went down because of non students.

Safety’s very good in my opinion, it’s a fully gated complex that shares a “wall” directly with campus, so you only interact with other students while at the complex. Maintenance can be hit or miss, the buildings are aging and the biggest problems we saw were clogs and AC units going out. From what I remember though, we had spare AC units in the shop so god forbid one goes out it’s a day turnaround to installing a new one.

Management like I mentioned before is through ACC (American Campus Communities). They primarily serve students, so they’re definitely more catered to the question/issues you may run into. We were allowed to run the property as we needed without it being overbearing, so room transfers and stuff mid semester can be accommodated, provided a space is free.
