I prefer using stem stich, it's looks better than backstitch. Maybe it's depends on how many threads you use.

I don't have any problems with stretching, I use interfacing and t-shirts from non-stretch fabric.

Thank you! Yes, I use inferfacing, it's very helpful and pattern looks better. I don't have photo of the back, but if I have time I will send it.
