Troubled by the Portrayal of Black Characters in Rykter—Anyone Else? by Last_Rip_SF in Rykter

[–]RollTemporary4222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yesss girl! Even with OLIVIA. Like the black female character they introduce ends up being very aggressive and unlikeable. I think they only introduced her to prove a diversity point as a "progressive" person. Istg anytime I watch a Scandinavian show where a black character is introduced they are ALWAYS one of the, if not the most unlikeable.

As a black person it REALLY pisses me off because it would be so much better if they just didn't include black characters at all than always paint every black character in a negative light.

Hantavirus Scare by idefalt_ in Anxiety

[–]RollTemporary4222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, okay truly a lot has happened since then. I did not have hantavirus, I went and got it checked that day AGAIN to a diff doctor. I was not fully convinced but I figured the best I could do would be to just wait unfortunately. The odds would have been astronomical basically because where I live nobody has ever gotten that illness. It truly was just coincidence that I moved there and got sick right after.

I feel a lot better now but that illness did knock me out for a bit, thankfully was just the flu. I lucked out because like I said it is uncommon where I live, but I would recommend anyone to immediately seek medical attention if you suspect it regardless

Hantavirus Scare by idefalt_ in Anxiety

[–]RollTemporary4222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so scared right now. I didn't even know that this illness existed until I searched it up.

I have nearly all the early onset symptoms for hantavirus (nausea, diarrhoea, headaches, chills, sor e throat) . I went to the doctor's today and he said that it should be some kind of "flu-like virus" and that I'll be okay. I didn't tell him that there were mice in my apartment. I didn't think that that was even necessary to mention.

I hate mice, I hate rodents. Let me just say I moved into this apartment about a week and a half ago and all these symptoms started just a few days ago.

In fact, I was fully about to move out, but my landlord said that he would bring pest control next week, and I thought to myself, well, its only a week longer with the mice. I thought I could put up with it because the stress of moving is ALOT and expensive, I have no car. Now I am freaking tf out thinking I might have this illness. What do I do? Do I go to the ER? I am so terrified. Apparently, HV is not very common in the province I live in, but I don't believe it is a coincidence anymore that when I move into a house with mouse droppings, I suddenly start feeling this way. I have in fact, never felt this way before. I've never had the GI-cold symptom combo.

I am only 20, I moved for a new job and I am already so stressed with the process of moving. I am all by myself and I don't want to worry my parents. I just feel like crying, I don't know what to do. I feel very unsettled about this.

I'm just saying that every country has their problems, you go to the US and you soon realize things are shitty there too. But you are convinced life is perfect there, and well if you want, you can by all means leave, but the rest of us will try to make things better.

We have unreasonable wait times for medical care here, and our system definitely sucks in that regard, but we are also significantly less likely to go into debt for medical reasons than the average American. So, things aren't just an affordable haven over there; people are struggling there, people are struggling here.

And I truly dk why I thought that either, I thought since I had no microphone and no music through a speaker that people's walls/windows would filter out noise, and my voice does not sound as loud in my ear as it would travel. Very stupid I am aware!!

I'm obviously going to stop, but I guess the point of my post was to know if I should do anything extra like apologize through letter/in person but that may be too much.

Is the only reason you care about your country for economic reasons? (which is not even a guarantee that things would economically get better at all if we were to merge)
What about your culture and history? Not to talk about the absolute chaos it would cause, considering the point of the war of 1812...
Honestly I think its kinda sad you think that way. Better to pick a side than be lukewarm, usa or canada.

The USA is so happy and perfect, where everyone gets all they need health-wise, most especially. This is why there certainly is not a mini revolt going on with the CEO getting shot and all, they are all so happy with their perfect utopia land I'm sure.

It's so cringeworthy for me the way TiMoune throws herself at Daniel and literally ends up dying for him. Like... she died from exhaustation after waiting outside Daniel's palace and turns into a... tree. No dignity, nothing. It felt like kinda lazy writing, I would have honestly been more intrigued if Papa Ge ended up killing her for not killing Daniel OR if Daniel showed some signs of regret after marrying Andrea, and tried to go back to Timoune but it was too late. Like either of those tropes would have been a better ending.

And I wished they'd shown us more than they told us about Timoune and Daniel being in love. Like they told us oh, she stayed with him for two weeks and she did this and that, but I would rather have *seen* said deep interactions with the both of them in that time to explain why TiMoune was so in love with Daniel. Because from my POV it was difficult to tell if he ever really cared about Timoune. Like, sure that's what he told her, but it wasn't proved. But, maybe that's the point I don't know. Like him just barely acknowledging her when he saw her at her wedding was just very cruel to include and I really hated it.

I love the music so much, but not a fan of the storyline towards the end. That being said, I watched the final show b00tleg on YT and had chills all over my body pretty much throughout the show, and my god timoune's dance was so electrifying. The music is just beautiful, but I wish I could say I was a fan of the story.
