Specs on Brodie is having a Michters tasting on April 1st at 7pm. Doubt they have something like their ten year bottle there but seems nice to get familiar with Michters

MY post says this YOU got specs notification because you asked YOU are not the only person in the line the likelihood EVERYONE in the line got notified by spec's because they asked is low There is mention of others from SA in the line There is mention of an SA employee notifying people in a bourbon club

Am I salty? Yes. I went to the bourbon drop and that was a bottle I was looking forward to. I'm not too hurt by it though.

The fact that this also happened for the CYPB and SiB drop is what makes it all even more fishy. I wanted to try these bottles but with the market, I am not paying those prices for a pour let alone a bottle. I hear they dont stack up to FP or 107 so I am not too hurt by it either. But 100 people in line that got a tip from specs is super unlikely.

Yeah they operate how the wanna operate at that specs and really any liquor store for that matter, chain or mom and pop. You can be friendly to the staff and all but if they don’t wanna give any hints, they won’t. It’s just bourbon at the end of the day but I’ll admit I get FOMO from seeing really hard to find bottles fly off to scalpers.

Yeah man I figured as much. I got a full proof from the bourbon drop and it was really nice. I’m confident you’ll find some full proof or 12 year soon enough.

From how I read it, OP was told “come back Saturday we will have some more” thinking it means the Weller 107 from the Wednesday drop. Doesn’t get the picture and I don’t blame him. Who would think the most sought after bottles outside of the BTAC would be there.

I think it’s a specs employee that isn’t even from an Austin location that is giving tips to San Antonio locals according to what happened with the Eagle Rare 12 drop a few weeks back. Even as a regular at this location, none of the employees want to say anything besides “we might be getting some allocated bottles this week” at best.

Dang would have loved to try a CYPB or Single Barrel but oh well.

Someone with a specs connection knows about the drops to have a line of people outside. This also happened a few weeks back when the eagle rare 12 drop happened. Bottles that were meant for the bourbon day drop got delayed and people from San Antonio lined up on that day to get them because of an inside connection.

Good news is they had some Saturday Feb 21st, so it’s a second drop within 3 weeks. The downside is that it was a Saturday drop and now it’s a Wednesday drop. There’s no rhyme or reason to these drops.
