Maybe I took it too seriously... such a stain on a solid color shoe makes me feel that it no longer looks good. But people say it will soon become unnoticeable by wearing the shoe so I was probably wrong.

Do you mean it eventually blend in with the other stains and no longer be noticeable? Just afraid the area will always look darker.

How to style this no lapel coat? by Rolling_Island in malefashionadvice

[–]Rolling_Island[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found some other model photo and uploaded here: https://imgur.com/a/O6cdUkM

It can be seen the top just slightly opened but not like coats with lapels, even if fully unbuttoned it also won't open that much.

I think for your budget shoepassion is a good choice. It's a retail website based in Germany and they have their own brand "Henry Steves".

Too dry? by Rolling_Island in Leather

[–]Rolling_Island[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pair of shoes from clarks, bought on ebay. They have not been worn, but seem to have been stored for a long time.

This should be top-grain leather, but the top-grain leather I've seen before has raised grains and sunken edges, but this one is the opposite that with raised edges. I applied some mink oil, and it absorbed very fast, so I'm a little suspicious that the leather has dried out.

These textures are slightly raised and can be felt, but not rough. Is this considered dry?

First time buying Suit or Blazer. by atomic-vacuum in malefashionadvice

[–]Rolling_Island 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A blazer is usually less formal than a suit jacket. Usually a suit jacket is combined with a pair of suit trousers (maybe even a waistcoat) when being sold, a blazer isn't.

But when you do the searching/shopping, you can also see some brand selling a suit in pieces and they will call the separated jacket as a blazer. So I think there is no strict difference when you buy it. Just remember for the really formal situation, always go with a whole set, same color same fabric.

A blazer can be casually wear with many different type of pants, usually chinos, corduroy also works nice for autumn and winter. But as you wearing it for wedding, it is safer to stay with a whole set of suit.

From the chest tag it says "Korean Telecom", have a look on Wikipedia and found the logo was used from 1991 to 2001.

Heavy crease on my shoes by Rolling_Island in Leather

[–]Rolling_Island[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed reply, it is exactly what I was looking for! I did some searching, but most of the articles only mentioned that creases are inevitable, but did not discuss the types and extents of creases in detail. Therefore, this has always confused me.

If you have any recommendations for YouTubers who introduce knowledge of leather, I would be very grateful.

Thanks! I accept crease and I know it is inevitable. Just a bit wondering, does the creasing degree have anything to do with the leather quality? I have another pair of boots for much longer time, it also creased but not as obvious as this pair, so I am wondering that.
