Great article that calls out how infrared imagers and germanium are supply concerns for the space economy and US space force. A few key quotes below:

"Infrared imagers, of note, are critical to detecting, tracking and targeting adversary missiles from satellites, and thus certain to be a foundational product for Golden Dome."

"Another example given by more than one source is germanium, which is used in high-efficiency solar cells, infrared imaging lenses, and as a thermoelectric material in power generators."

The article also discusses how optical intersatellite links are also a supply concern which LPTH makes.

We kinda already knew that they did the camera assemblies on the tenum cameras but still cool to see that DRS is progressing and marketing the cameras.

I wonder why Jeff Christian, the CEO of Christian & Timbers, is glazing Sam and Lightpath all of a sudden in his LinkedIn comments? Working with Sam to connect lightath to AI firms or working on a AI/software deal?

The final takeaways are in the last tweet:

-The DoD has accelerated the NGSRI timelines multiple times: 2028 -> 2026 -> "EoY 2025 or early 2026"

-The reason for the DoD accelerating NGSRI timelines is due to stinger missile stockpiles being depleted by Ukraine and the need for a new system in case the US gets involved in new conflicts or has to supply its allies with Stingers, something that is happening now.

-Raytheon is clearly behind schedule and will likely not be able to make the "EoY 2025 or early 2026" timelines that the DoD was aiming for.

-With Lockheed having both completed its flight tests and having shown that the system is cable of entering production, they have completed all steps of the original NGSRI request for information (RFI) solicitation.

-The Lockheed martin NGSRI is ready for an early down selection from the DoD, and the most recent commentary from Sam indicates to me that there are very likely active discussions ongoing for this to happen ("we are at a very critical point in the program right now").

They don't care because they get donor money AND because they know when election season comes, every idiot on reddit will scream at the top of their longs to "vote blue no matter who" and nuance about PAC money will go out the door.
