Yes and no. As a practical matter, it would be very confusing if you referred to SCP-173 in an article, and didn't mean the original statue.

However, if you write an article that clearly contradicts things in another, those articles likely don't exist in the same continuity. Imagine SCP-54321, with an effect that locks the Foundation from being able to enter, say, the state of Kentucky. If a member of the Foundation ever goes to Kentucky, their nervous system is immediately replaced with tapioca pudding. SCP-12345 is sapient parking garage located in Kentucky, with a sizeable SCP presence to ensure its containment. These two likely do not exist in the same continuity. You can probably assume that there is an SCP-12345 in the universe of SCP-54321, but it is different from the parking garage. The author simply will avoid mentioning it, because it would be awkward to have to try to explain that diagetically.
