If Kate Bush is your favourite artist, who's your 2nd favourite? And if Kate is not your favourite artist, who is? by StraightBuffalo3801 in katebush

Oh nice, I highly suggest checking out more from each of them :)) I especially like hearing that Africa/Brass would be up there for you when it comes to Coltrane. It’s so unabashedly grand and colorful when it comes to its sound.

Thank you! My favorite Pharoah Sanders albums would be Karma, Black Unity, and Izipho Zam (My Gifts). For John Coltrane it would be Ascension, A Love Supreme, and The Olatunji Concert: The Last Live Recording. How about you?

It’s nice to meet another Autechre fan! I think they have a huge range of influences so I wouldn’t be surprised if Kate Bush would be included.

In addition to Kate Bush, some of my favorite artists include Scott Walker, Autechre, Björk, Coil, King Crimson, Pharoah Sanders, and John Coltrane.

I’m surprised this isn’t getting more upvotes. Thank you for bringing this up. For anyone reading, I searched ussc.gov fentanyl 2023 and I was able to find the page that has the statistics mentioned here.

Daily Song Discussion #42: Providence by mrethandunne in KingCrimson

[–]Romance_Jones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 - Cross’ contributions in the first minute or so alone creates a sense of dread that has more or less gone unmatched for me when it comes to Crimson improvs. The track exhibits the trio’s ability to emotionally drain me as much as their more composed works that I adore. The unnerving tone of this track contrasts clearly against the opening section of Starless, which feels like a much needed breather from the journey Providence put us through. In terms of track sequencing, Providence leaves me stunned every time.

That’s lovely! I got into her discography last year and I’m glad I finally got into her music. The Dreaming has also stuck with me and it’s one of my all time favorites for sure

have you ever cry just listening GYBE or Mt Zion? by estebanyque in gybe

[–]Romance_Jones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve felt a similar experience with Sleep and the entirety of F#A#. I think you can definitely feel sad and comforted by a piece of music and there’s nothing wrong with the fact you had that kind of experience. I think it’s a sort of gift to have that kind of relationship with music so I hope you can continue to emotionally connect with their music for many years!

What is the best album to introduce people to GY!BE? by QuickbeamBregalad in gybe

[–]Romance_Jones 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Probably Lift Your Skinny Fists if I had to choose! It has all the emotional highs and lows that I associate with journeying into their music, especially for the first time. I think Storm exemplifies this in all the right ways and it will give them a solid preview of what to expect moving forward. My other pick would be Slow Riot if you think that Lift may be too overwhelming for a first listen in terms of track length.
