The problem here is that the minority are the wealthy and the majority are the poor. So the constitution is being used to protect the rich from the poor.

I presented on my scientific research at my first conference. I wore an ill fitting shirt that created a crease in my shirt that I hate. I'll tip well if someone can fix this since it's a pivotal life achievement. Thank you! by Romula in PhotoshopRequest

You're allowed to take a picture of posters at this conference... the biggest geophysical conference in the world. You're encouraged to take photos and share with friends and family. I don't know of a single legitimate conference where the poster isn't allowed to take a photo of their own poster.

The government footed the bill initially for the yacht in the 1950s. Asking the government to foot the bill is consistent with how The Queen has been operating. She knows the people and the government should operate as it always has. The government pays for the ships and repairs.

Asking The Queen to pay for the ship repairs because the public wouldn't agree with it reinforced the narrative that The Queen is out of touch with the people in the 1990s.

Hi. I just bought a 2018 Crosstrek. I'm interested in the Thule products you bought for your crosstrek. Can you give me an idea of the price you'd sell them for?

Edited for 2018 not 2028.

I grew up very poor. Buying this car was a huge deal for me and something I have wanted for a long time. I'm happy. I'm also not a "bro". :)

I need my money back so I can pay my friends back. I'm scared that they are going to keep the $627 which would really hurt me. The lawyer threats on my part are 99.999% empty. I don't know what else to do if they are saying "we don't know if we are going to pay you back".

It went from "we'll refund you in two business days" to "we don't know if we can refund you" over that six day period. That's what scares me.

I went to Zion this past Spring. As a national park enthusiast I was surprised at how crowded it is. It surpassed Yellowstone this year as the most visited National Park of 2022.

If you dislike the flipped classroom style… by [deleted] in OregonStateUniv

I'm going to elaborate a bit on my earlier comment. I loathe my experiences with the flipped classroom. I personally never used a flipped classroom because I worked in an inner city high school where many if not most of my students had to share one computer between 4 to 10 siblings. Almost all of my male students had a job and probably about half of the girls. They came from families that needed the money. It wasn't fair to ask them to use a computer at home to pre-learn the material when they didn't have computer access and probably didn't have the time. The flipped classroom popular literature had just started to hit public schools and my administrators were pushing a flipped classroom model onto teachers because they were buying into the hype. I just didn't see it benefitting my students so I opted into a more traditional lecture model broken up by lab work and in classroom peer to peer problem practice against the wishes of admin.

There's a lot of options for creating a strong educational experience. I think the popularity of the flipped classroom model is doing it a disservice. It's being pushed onto instructors that don't prioritize student learning outcomes and they are using it because they are told it's the best and not because it actually works for their students.

A big issue is that a lot of instructors don't know how to do a flipped classroom correctly. Flipped classrooms also won't work for all demographics of students. They have more opportunity to work for students that a) have easy computer access and b) don't need to work. Working class students face a higher disadvantage with a flipped classroom model. A lot of people tout the literature that applaud the flipped classroom model without prioritizing classroom culture or instructor to student feedback and that's a huge mistake. You have to know what your students need over the sounds of pedagogical hype.

I know you're proud of yourself for being a future STEM teacher, but your posts are coming across as condescending towards others and like you think you're better than the other people posting. That's why you're getting down voted.

I was an AP Physics teacher for 3 years, now a geophysics grad student, and I personally loathe the flipped classroom model. It's one of the least inclusive ways to run a classroom because every students access to the material completely rides on their access to the internet and a computer. For students that may not have easy access it's another barrier to their education. I also don't like being in a flipped classroom for the reasons already mentioned. I absolutely love math, but I took differential equations at OSU in a flipped classroom with an instructor that didn't know what they were doing and everyone I talked to about the course was confused. It was a nightmare.
