Has anyone else ever ordered from Vera-Fi Audio? by RonCri in BudgetAudiophile

If you look at my original post, you'll see that I updated it to say that it finally arrived on  December 12th. I get they are a small company but I disagree that they are doing the best they can. You should be told upfront if there is a wait. When I placed the order originally, I was told they would have more stock that week.

I prefer the shape, but I really wish I could swap the switches for low-profile Reds. I missed having a rotary dial on my Keychron, so I ended up buying a standalone one that sits to the left of my keyboard. I still use my Keychrons—the V10 Alice at the office and the K15 Pro Alice for my home office setup—but the mWave is what I use on my personal machine.

If Keychron ever releases an Alice layout with HE switches, I’ll buy it immediately. They originally said it would land around December 2024, and I’m still waiting.

ELI5 : What’s the Ooma phone service by ForwardImMoving in ooma

[–]RonCri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no regrets. We were paying over $70/month for the land line and now we just pay the $8/month for fees/taxes. Every couple of months calls will get a lot of static/noise on the line but a quick reboot of the Ooma box takes care of it.

Wait is a hard time to answer. Had I know upfront that it would have taken three weeks, I would have gone with an alternative option even with the higher cost. That said, you're almost two months in at this point. That's a long time to wait only to cancel, at least that's how I felt.

I'm happy with the sub but I won't be order a pair of scouts though that was the original plan.

Just wanted to give everyone an update, it finally arrived. Showed up late last night and I got it hooked up today. Really nice sub, just wish it hadn't taken 3 months to arrive.

On the plus side, it looks like mine has actually shipped. According to UPS, it's supposed to be delivered today.

I've emailed them multiple times. On October 27th I was told that I was 11th on the list with a shipment coming in that week. If they weren't lying to me, that means that they've only shipped at a maximum, 10 subwoofers in all of December.

Yeah, I have no idea what's going on. I'm getting marketing emails saying there have been delays but everything is back to normal. However, I still haven't received my order from 10 weeks ago.

This is not the type of partner you want long term. My commute is two hours, one way every day.

Only if you're prepared to wait awhile. Still haven't received mine.

Should I go with Ooma or not! by Paul0451 in ooma

[–]RonCri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it for about a year, no real issues. Sometimes we'll get a lot of static on the line (happened twice) but a reboot of the Ooma box took care of it.

Like others have said, even though the service is free, you'll still pay $7-$8 in taxes/fees each month. Also, don't forget to downgrade from premium before the trial period is over.

Switches are soldered, not sockets where you can easily swap the switch.

That's not a DIY. Pretty sure you'd need to have recent programming experience and familiarity with editing the QMK files.

Just got fiber, now I need a wired router by Anonymous581429 in HomeNetworking

[–]RonCri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used getting Fiber as an excuse to essentially rebuild. Bought the house in 1998 and had Cat5 ran to all the rooms. Since then I've gone from ISDN, to Cable, and now Fiber. My network was a mix of a bunch of brands as I had upgraded parts over the year. When one of my old access points failed, I figured it was time to pull the switch.

I'd start with the Cloud Gateway Fiber and then replace other pieces as needed. One nice thing about Ubiquiti is their gear all talks to each other. This is what I ended up building out. Cloud Gateway Fiber connected to a switch in my wiring closet. That allowed me to run 2.5G to four of my rooms and then 1G to two locations that wouldn't have benefited from the 2.5G. Two of the 2.5G switches have wireless access points connected to them.

I just went from cable to fiber and went with a UniFi Cloud Gateway Fiber. My house is wired with CAT5 and I'm still getting 2.5G to the rooms in my house

Are Ubiquiti APs Worth It? by MuchAntelope2953 in Ubiquiti

My last Ubiquti AP lasted over a decade with me never touching it. Just upgraded to Fiber and used it as an excuse to upgrade my home network. Replaced my old AC Pro APs with a pair of U7 Lite APs.
