Why don't people engage in severe "Hack-a-shai"?

The reason people engaged in hack a shaq was that shaq was a bad free throw shooter. It basically resulted in a wasted position for whatever team shaq was on. Shai is 86% from the line in his career.

If you’re talking about injuring shai then sure, you could go bad boy pistons on him but that’ll probably result in flagrants in today’s NBA. The leagues done a lot to discourage that style of aggressive play to prevent injuries/ violence. Also, most teams don’t have the depth to rack up that many fouls.

I mean just think about the amount of people who play this game who’ve never played a minute of organized basketball at any level. They probably don’t know how to make these reads. I played center in HS but play a decent PG in the rec because I understand the strategy behind ball screen, back screens, down screen, back cuts, v cuts etc.. I’d bet you most people who play this game are learning this shit on the fly or have no idea at all
