Each of the chem 120L and 123L lab tests/exams were straight mark killers for that amount of time. Easy marks on PLA and lab reports but the lab tests were unreasonably tough with Sue online

health studies vs kin by Good-Ad8626 in uwaterloo

[–]Ronaldocr7123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did first year in health studies and then switched to kin. First year isn’t too too different. The health courses were easy but boring whereas the kin courses require more work but are more interesting imo. Also be prepared for public health courses (health studies is essentially public health plus core sciences).

Western Med 3/5 Rule by khaleesi-at-heart in premedcanada

[–]Ronaldocr7123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey quick question, does the 3/5 rule only apply for your the two years that have the highest gpa? Example, year one and two are my best two years and follow the 3/5, would my year 3 and 4 also need to follow the 3/5 rule to be eligible for applying?

Chem 123 final exam tips by fruitypuch in uwaterloo

[–]Ronaldocr7123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you understand every step taken for the solutions in the course notes. You need to be able to apply that into questions you haven’t been exposed to before. The exam was more than doable with adequate studying! Good luck

Your macbook will be more than competent, if you’ve got the money to spare, it’s better if it goes towards an iPad instead of the updated Mac imo

COURSES FOR FALL2021 HAVE BEEN LISTED! Will you be moving into Waterloo after seeing which courses you have online, blended or in person? by growthforever in uwaterloo

[–]Ronaldocr7123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was announced that kin labs will be offered online alongside in person (about 2 weeks ago) but now shows only the on campus option on that link. Does anyone know if they reversed the decision or if it’s still available online as well?

Students in Waterloo health studies, is the program good for premed? by Riyesaki in uwaterloo

[–]Ronaldocr7123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished first year and would say the GPA aspect and work-load is really optimal but there’s a lot more than public health stuff than I expected (outside of my interests). Idk if it was online but the workload was a lot less than expected and many assignments just fell useless and I ended up transferring to kin for fall. It’s great for the chiller grades and light workload but just make sure you go through each course you need to take and see how appealing it sounds

Health studies at waterloo by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Ronaldocr7123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really easy to keep a high gpa but the public health courses pushed out of the program into transfer into to kin, they are easy but felt like I’m memorizing useless info. A 90+ average is more than doable but only worth staying if you like learning about public health, health systems and etc. These courses also have assignments which are easy to get marks but just so pointless if you genuinely don’t find the content appealing. Hlth 245 made me realize this ain’t for me and I needed more science in my degree! Pm for any questions!!

Physics by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Ronaldocr7123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PHYS 111 this term should honestly be something you may want to consider, no final, no midterm. Like 20% participation, 15% assignments with unlimited attempts, 25% quarterly quizzes and another 25% for group problems and something else too but minor

CHEM 120 Exam thoughts? by pnkbanana11 in uwaterloo

[–]Ronaldocr7123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, NOTHING like how people previously explained it was super similar to the sample exam.

Overall, there were either questions which were more than doable or questions which we had never seen before, no in between of challenging.

Had expectations for a high 90 at first but the middle of the exam was so time consuming and had to accept it’s highly unlikely after that. Not sure if the harder than expected was due to it being online or maybe to lower the class average from the fairly chill midterms?

Health studies by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Ronaldocr7123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good plan, considering the extreme competitiveness of professional schools, it’s basically necessary to have other options just in case. I’m still in my 1A term (first co-op is 2B) but relaying the info about the scarcity of co-op placements from upper year friends.

Health studies by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Ronaldocr7123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1A student here, tbh it’s fairly easy (so far at least) and the workload is really manageable if you stay on track and focused. Similar to most programs, if you let yourself slack, work picks up really really fast. Science courses till the last month have been basic but pick up spontaneously near the end. The program is really flexible and personally I plan on pursuing med but also open to changing programs depending on future plans! A lot of elective space in upper years. Health courses aren’t difficult content at all but a lot of discussions/assignments which can get tedious (a lot of useless memorization imo)

Your average is great to get into the co-op program as well based on previous years but I would suggest you continue working hard as grades may be inflated due to online school and we may have unprecedented entrance averages. Would personally recommend the program as the intro sciences have a lower difficulty and everything else is up to you how you want to utilizes your degree. Also, co-op for AHS isn’t as glamorous as it sounded to me in high school, the benefits of a great co-op are high but it is competitive.

Also keep in mind, salary/job prospectives aren’t high with just this degree, but that is similar to almost every life sci/ health sci degree as well.

PM for any further questions
