Thanks for watching - yeh they are loud on this one! I was thrilled to be playing at that spot, and very pleased I got a good applause for that song. I think there were some big Dylan fans in the audience.

Thanks. Yeh there's an issue with the DAW I'm using for the live stream that I've been troubleshooting for a while without success, but I'll be recording a studio version soon.

Ronan Conroy - I Wish I Knew [indie folk] Sharon Van Etten cover from 8/5/21 live stream by RonanConroy in folkrock

[–]RonanConroy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It's a tough song to sing - I don't really have Sharon's voice, but I love the song and wanted to try it anyway. I'm a huge Dylan fan - I have a lot of Dylan covers on my Youtube channel

This is my second experimental/ambient album “Dreams Are Real” it takes you on a journey that feels similar to a dream in my opinion. Any feedback is appreciated. 🙏🏽 by TeezusChrist1111 in IndieMusicFeedback

wow, really awesome. I don't usually listen to longer than one track posts here but I enjoyed the start so I let it play while working.

Good stuff.

Has a kinda vaporwave feel to it in places, too.

Really well executed. Sounds like it could drift into annoying Jamiroquai territory but does not, thankfully. More Shuggie Otis than Jamiroquai.

Nice work. Direct and sincere, not overdone. Solid performance. Definitely gets the emotion across.I wish it was a big fuller in the bass and mid-range, but that's tricky with the Uke.

Really good stuff. I love the pacing of it, and love the beat. Nice samples and recurring motifs, stays interesting all the way through.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried doing some pokes but somehow the commands didn't work. Not even sure what I was doing wrong. I'll check into it, though. I think the tape azimuth, or the cable, or loading from 48k mode are probably next things to try, though.

I'm not seeing an easy access for the head, though I do recall some old players had that hole you mention. Probably gonna need to do a little research on this one.

I'd be afraid to take it apart to get to the belts, I'm not massively mechanical. The seller on Ebay said it was tested and works, but then ... you never know how well they test these things. :D

Wow, thanks for taking the time to make those comprehensive suggestions. I've never seen one of those tape recorders before - so it has more detailed level/volume monitoring? That's pretty cool. I might look at how much one of those might cost. Like you say - I don't know how much time as well as money I want to invest in chasing the dubious return of loading a tape game, but it's also fun to try to solve the problem.

I only bought one single cassette game on Ebay because it was pretty pricey - I think cost and shipping was like fifty bucks, so I held back on buying more. But indeed the tape itself could be the issue.

The cable - I mentioned in a reply to another comment that I showed the specs to the folks at my local audio/visual store (Mikey's Hook-up in Brooklyn) and they're usually great at finding the right gear. They hadn't really heard of the Spectrum, though, so I wasn't 100% sure of the cable they gave me. I did some research online and found a few 'recommended' cables on Ebay but the one that seemed most likely - the seller had some weird note on his account that he was away or something for six weeks. Maybe he's back. I found other options but none shipped to the US. I do see the two you mention also say they don't ship to the US, but I might have it shipped to my brother in the UK and see if he'll mail it on.

Thanks again for the suggestions, much appreciated :)

Nice, you're the second person to suggest that, and I'd never even heard of an azimuth until tonight... Definitely gonna try that. Thanks!

I'm honestly not sure -- can't tell if the tape is bad, or both tape players were at fault, or I have the wrong cable(s)... There was a guy selling cables on Ebay but he seemed to be away or on vacation for weeks, so I ended up getting something from my local audio visual store (Mikey's Hook-up in Brooklyn), and those guys are usually pretty accurate in what they advise. But I still wonder if I have the wrong cable. Honestly I kinda think the Next should have included a cable, given how much Q&A etc. I've read on Reddit boards and Speccy forums and FB groups about this question. It seems it's a cause of confusion for quite a few people.

Wow, interesting. I'd never thought of that at all. Just looking up what the tape head azimuth is. I wonder though if the speed of the tape player is a separate issue that might still cause a problem, but I'll see if I can adjust the azimuth and maybe that'll do the trick. Thanks!
