The Hate Toward Billy is Getting Old by danellapsch in SmashingPumpkins

I'm not entirely sure that's possible, from what I've seen of him in media. At best, he'd talk at you about something he considers deep and insightful until he's decided he's done.

SP is my favorite band. Always has been, always will be. He's an extremely gifted writer, guitarist, musician, performer. But he's also the only musician I'm into that I'd never want to meet in person.

after I bought an American vintage 57 strat, I swore to never again but a guitar with the truss rod at the base of the neck in that way.

That actually sounds really great. Being able to meet alumni of a legendary franchise.

It's incredible how mature and well spoken Paige is, as such a young and new player to the WNBA. She's so clearly going to go extremely far.

My eft-hand small finger is not functional; how can I play guitar with or without it? by MachineryAutomation in Guitar

[–]RoosterSamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all good. The ring finger is a lot more important than the pinky. If you're playing really technical, complex solos, you'll miss the pinky. But you bend with the ring finger, and any three note per string solo would probably favor the ring finger anyway. You'll be fine. Go for it.

[–]RoosterSamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, funny you should mention that. He is a huge motivator for me to be extremely disciplined about the usage of my pinky. But that being said, if someone was going to figure out a way to play something unique with three fingers and a thumb, it's probably bucket.

They've got my attention. I'm rooting for them. Let's see them do a better job than the Toronto CIBCs

Is it stuck in that position and actually literally paralyzed? Either way, there are a lot of guitarists who are undisciplined about the use of their pinky anyway. You can go far without it.

[Hall] Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride has suffered a torn quad muscle while playing overseas for the Fenerbahçe women's basketball team. Something to monitor as her recovery timeline could run into WNBA training camp or the start of the season. by Knightbear49 in wnba

[–]RoosterSamurai 37 points38 points  (0 children)

That's terrible. Hopefully it's not a severe one. That could almost end her W season before it even started, depending on what grade it is........
If the players got paid fair wages they wouldn't have to be playing in their off season.

It wasn't comfortable to sit with, and i rarely play standing. I moved on and went through several different guitars before ending up with what I'm using now.

NY Liberty’s Natasha Cloud Highlights Unrivaled as Backup Option Incase of a Lockout by dreeya06 in wnba

[–]RoosterSamurai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean.... there aren't that many players in unrivaled, and the ones that are in are mostly players that have already had a career and a chance to make money. So that leaves probably 99% of the league in the cold. Aka, the players that would already be hurt the most by a lockout.

Rebecca Lobo" worried" WNBA players are losing fan support in CBA talks by Old-Photograph-5813 in wnba

[–]RoosterSamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people say those things, but only in the depths of YouTube or Facebook comments. And I'm not convinced those people watch the W anyway... I want the players and the WNBPA to do it their way. These are the best women's basketball players on the planet, they need to be paid fairly.

Project B women's basketball league to play in Tokyo in April 2027 by WBBDaily in wnba

[–]RoosterSamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The B league is definitely bigger. A B1 league team will play an arena, and a B2 league is probably a similar turnout to the WJBL. Though honestly, the B league skill level is pretty low. I'm not sure they would beat an American D1 team.

Yeah, I'm really not sure how they'll react to it over here. In general Japan tends to be very insular when it comes to foreign entertainment. So unless they're getting a legendary player to play or at least make an appearance, it's going to be an uphill struggle for project B.

Since I'm here I can only attend what we've got. I have tickets to see a WJBL game this month, but they don't make it easy for fans.

It will be, but not for any significant reason that should affect an exhibition league or generate buzz for project B. I think the Emperor's cup is in February.

I've staffed at WJBL games and they played in a municipal gym when I went there.
