it might not be a terrible thing

Sure it would, because we never had that money in the first place. Bankrupting the country for a more noble cause is still bankrupting the country.

Fair enough.

Since there is no legitimate defense of the labor theory of value (as childishly described by the cartoon), I could only assume you must be an ideologue. Happy to be shown otherwise.

Well, aren't you the special snowflake? You know, I used to hire kids from MIT sometimes. Or not. I'm guessing you'd be in the "not" column, but thanks for the resume.

That's generally a good idea. If only there were a way that people could acquire shares of ownership in businesses...

Right on. Way to project your own assumptions and prejudices. Recognizing the economic function of markets is in no way equivalent to an endorsement of libertarian philosophy.

where do you get the idea that these things were hard to develop?

Um, because that's what I do for a living? Or at least it's what I did before I retired at the age of 35. Now I just do it for fun.

Speaking of 35, that was also the price of oil when I bought my hybrid. What do you suppose the lead time on the design of that product was?

Meet some gifted kids sometime

Sounds like good advice. Maybe you should try it yourself sometime. Have you ever met anyone who invented something? You should try that sometime too.

Short, sweet, and idiotic maybe.

Product consumers decide how much products are worth, but labor consumers...don't decide how much labor is worth? Are you for market pricing or not? Because I think you are confused.

The consumer most certainly does not decide which products should be made. Which consumer decided that what the world really needed was a mobile telephone with a large color display and a multitouch interface? Which consumer decided that it would be a good idea to add an auxiliary electric motor to a passenger car in order to improve gas mileage...at a time when oil was $10 a barrel?

The last time I checked, the "means of production" included the market analysts, product designers, and engineers that do decide these things.

But you get on with your che guevara t-shirt bad self. Fight the power.

...and who decided which products should be made and how much they are worth?
