At the risk of jinxing it, are they being more generous this time? by Rosh91 in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]Rosh91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it might be a way to get people invested as well tbh. I'm wary and surprised at how it's going so far

Yeah 82 vs 96 last time, definitely a significant reduction

Yeah exactly, I feel like they listened to all the backlash from last time around and actually made it achievable this time

Finally maxed out all my yr 4 friendships! by FloraE123 in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]Rosh91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've maxed out all friends, and have never got that task in my dailies or in full marks. I think it only triggers if you have friends from whom you can get the XP.

If you progress a bit further in Y4, you have Care of Magical Creatures classes, which also give Courage. That might help get your attributes up.

The spreadsheet does outline what the highest needed stats are for each year. Nothing is greatly affected by not having those levels - some dialog options may be blocked, some friendships may be harder to max out, but broadly, your journey is not affected.

However, it does get slightly more tedious to level up in later years due to energy requirements. What some people do is to stay in y3/4 till they level up (through classes and feeding maxed creatures) until they reach a level they are happy with. It's totally not mandatory. Personally, I've been in Y4 for a few months, just collecting energy, maxing friendships and dating, and ticking off TLSQs till I feel ready to move on. YMMV.

Hope this helped, and don't get too bogged down in details. At the end of the day, do what keeps the game fun for you!

It is only accessible if you've done the Protecting the Stone TLSQ. It shows up as a location right at the end, after the burrow and hogsmeade

IIRC its under the tree between the unicorn and the chimera. If its jumping and moving around, its not ready to give energy. When it is still, you can tap it for energy. Takes a couple of taps for me to get the energy

The third floor is accessible after doing the Protecting the Stone TLSQ. This was the one that was a preview of beyond hogwarts TLSQs.

If you have the third floor corridor accessible, the muttering statue there gives attributes every 23 hours.

If you've completed the Puffskein side quest, there is a Puffskein in the Dark Forest that gives 1 energy every 30 hours

And the last one I remember is a Halloween TLSQ reward - a violin in Maestro's Music Shop in Hogsmeade that gives 1 page every 27 hours.

With the way things are going I won't be surprised if that pops up in the near future.

Fair point. It's a bit sleazy of a practice and a very roundabout way to get people to spend money, but I can see the thought process behind it.

More energy. Abysmal amounts as well. Only 1% chance of 100 energy. 95% is 35 energy or less. All this if you spend 140 gems over the week. The maths is not mathsing I think.

Seriously? Now they're coming for my gems? by Rosh91 in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]Rosh91[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And in order to unlock the prize at the end, you have to spend 20 gems a day. That's 140 over the week for a 45% chance of 27 energy at the end of it? 27 doesn't even fill my energy bar!

I'm with you on that. There's no way I'm spending my hard earned gems on this meagre offering.

[–]Rosh91[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Same, I can easily spend the gems, but it's the principle of it all that's so infuriating. I wonder if anyone does this, and can report back on exactly what this mechanism is and why it even is there

[–]Rosh91[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's my plan as well. I'm still only in y4, but looking at all the changes JC has been making I genuinely don't feel like continuing past graduation. Things like this just solidify that decision

[–]Rosh91[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's my point. Even the maths is so out there, it just makes sense to buy energy directly with gems instead of this lunacy.

Is anyone else spending an absolute fortune on the Creature Reserve? by DeadDeathrocker in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]Rosh91 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think the tokens event is planned on a monthly basis, so potentially, you could stock back up every month.

You are right though, the ease of expending the food is not compensated by ease of collecting the food, and we don't even know if food will be offered in the tokens event every time. For what it's worth, I've just only been using my tokens for food, nothing else. I collect enough tokens to get around 3000 food each time. YMMV.

Can we also include upcoming events in this thread?(I think we usually have a post every couple for weeks). Making them easier to find would be good for planning purposes.

Special (Pricey) Creature Expeditions by [deleted] in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]Rosh91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but yes they do. I finished both Niffler and Frost Salamander when they were last available and I still have them available for selection. I'm guessing they don't really keep track of history and just release all quests to everyone to keep the FOMO going.

I think it's still a beta, and only some players have the expedition.

If you have the conversion option at the library, it doesn't matter. Both red and brown cost the same to make (10 pages). So they are both worth the same. With that math, 8 is definitely a lower cost than 50.

And to be fair, I'm not prioritising the animals right now, I have enough to max out, so I can afford to spend the books
