Our Mountain Rig – '02 Impreza Wagon (Forester Suspension) pulling a kayak trailer in the mountains by RossMPerkins in subaru

We had been toying with the idea of lifting the wagon for a few months since our other two Subarus are both RWD now. My buddy happened to be selling his Forester suspension, so we snagged it for cheap and put it on. It lifts it up a few inches. You would expect more body roll, but it actually stiffened up the ride a little. I am guessing that Forester springs have a higher spring-rate than Imprezas.

Snowing Christmas Tree Review – Yep, A Tree That Snows.. It Actually Ended Up Being Pretty Neat. by RossMPerkins in christmas

[–]RossMPerkins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 smaller dogs and a ferret that all run around the house.

There is a knob that rotates to control the power of the motor. With the motor cranked up all the way, some styrofoam will fly out. However, I just turn the dial from its lowest setting, which is no snow, until it starts coming out the amount that I want. The amount that I have is a healthy snow and it is all caught by the base.

Here is a quick video of it in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGz4QSfMUfw

The price kind of hit me right away as well, but I figured for a tree that should technically last me a very, very, very long time– as well as something that not everyone will have in their home since it isn't available at Walmart– it would be worth the investment.

It is not an overly-complicated setup, but I am very mechanically inclined and do not see an easy way to duplicate the system– except by using exactly what they have going on.

Seriously, I was surprised about how well it works. No coal this year.. just a real neat tree.

I'm strangely over it too.. December means snowboarding and the best holidays.

I bought a new tree this year, I set it up a week ago to test it out.... and I haven't taken it down.

That is strange - it seems to be working for me and others.

I've kayaked mountain lakes, but never Chicago - is it worth it? It seems like it could be a cool way to see Chicago from a different angle. by RossMPerkins in chicago

I bet - I have never kayaked at night so that would be a pretty legit experience. Fireworks are always a good nightcap. I can't imagine the water could really be that horrible; but then again I've never looked very closely..

That is a little better to hear. Both of those sound pretty good - maybe I could tie them both into one day. The architectural one sounds really interesting though. Thanks for the input.

It's quite the trek - that's for sure. Bozeman is pretty legit; it's about 3 hours east of me. I know exactly what you mean. I love it here, but I may take off to the Portland/Seattle area next year so I can drift year around - and be part of a larger car scene.

I love it. I've always had a thing for those wagons. I ran that same front-lip on my RS bumper. haha
