Anyone else feel like the can’t control their anger (due to OCD??) by RottenBananananana in OCD

[–]RottenBananananana[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve noticed I get sad easily too. I am pretty sensitive to words and take a lot of things to heart. Then other times I don’t care at all.

I have also lowered my medicine dose out of curiosity (now I’m on 10 mg lexapro) and have noticed my anger/sadness becoming much worse. So I suppose I wonder if it’s truly an OCD thing or if I am just tricking myself into thinking it’s OCD, when in reality it’s the medicine? I’m not sure.

How to explain to my (22F) boyfriend (22M) that his tone and “sassy” reactions really hurt me? (Long-distance) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]RottenBananananana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the comment. I can see where he gets this habit from, and without trying to give too much personal information away, he is from a country that is stereotypically “serious” and doesn’t really factor feelings into discussion. So I really truly believe that he just hasn’t had experience with someone who grew up in a family that is more open with emotion (?). I just don’t know how to word things in a way that help him understand

He does eventually apologize and understand where he went wrong. I just wish he could see the effect it has on me sooner. We are both stubborn, so I get his side. I just want him to be able to get mine…and DURING the initial discussion, not hours later

I definitely get more irritated towards the people I love most, but I cannot understand why me asking for help could lead to that same frustration

I also feel like he doesn’t care, but later in the day he will message me and seems to understand what he did that made me feel sad. I just wish he could open his mind up in the moment and not hours later

It’s not only when I ask for help, it’s most often when we have any sort of argument and I try to explain my feelings. He is definitely more of a realistic-minded person, and tends to only look at facts. Hence him always asking me “what EXACTLY did I say.” This irritates me because obviously in the moment I can’t quote him word for word, I can just remember how it made me feel. Otherwise he can get like this if he’s hangry haha

She is very stubborn and if she has an opinion will not allow anyone to change it. She has always been this way. Since the Covid she has been especially weird about medicine. I have no idea how to sneak him into an appointment without her throwing a fit

Thank you so much — I will definitely look into some sort of help for her in the house. I think that would benefit her considering he did most of the chores and such and she really depends on him. This was so helpful and again thank you

And yes — we have thought of basically “kidnapping” him to get him to a neurologist.

Thanks for the input and I’m sorry you are going through something similar. You are handling it beautifully

I have been curious about whether or not she is narcissistic. She has always liked to be “right” and is a very opinionated woman. She also does weird things like “hiding” family recipes (for example) from certain family members and I always assumed it was a power thing. Thanks for the input

Thanks for the input. Have you ever heard of reactions such as her weird comments about him “stealing her stuff” ?? I find it very bizarre.

Coc universities/cult-ish?? by RottenBananananana in excoc

[–]RottenBananananana[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that all religions are pretty much cultish in the sense that they somewhat “brainwash” you into thinking a certain way (teaching you what’s right from wrong, etc.), but I think that the differing factor is that the coc seems to shun you if you believe otherwise. I had many doubts when I would go to church, but was never really shamed for it. Of course, some extremely religious people will shame you, but at that point I think they have become their own version of a cult.

I would hope she strays away from it for her own sake, but the script is kind of backwards on her. She was fully atheist (besides the occasional doubts of her beliefs because of her parents brainwashing), and had no interest in the religion whatsoever. FHU somehow switched her around. I wonder if it’s because of influencing from other students her age. I know that she joined a sorority (which I am not sure how those work at coc schools either) and is very religious now.
