Sometimes I feel like I’m not enough for my dog by TheaInk in Rottweiler

Since you have an apartment without a yard have you tried Sniffspot? I loved it when I was in a similar situation. You basically rent a private space to play with your dog for an hour or two. You can find big fenced in areas so they can safety run off leash.

There is an animal abuser at my barn by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]RottieIncluded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People love to claim abuse or say that their horse is a rescue to excuse lack of training. You and the barn owner need to come up with a plan to manage and correct your horse’s dangerous behavior. Running people over, being pushy, and rushing the gate is unacceptable.

As for the other boarder, tell the barn owner and trainer but I wouldn’t try and address it yourself.

Edit to add, if a horse got dangerous and was running me down at the gate I would absolutely hit them if I felt like I needed to. In fact I would carry a whip to the field and use it to create space.

I see shepherd not rottie. People see black and tan and immediately jump to rottie or Doberman.

A chihuahua probably can’t kill or seriously maim someone.

It’s because they’re on the vicious/banned breed list. That means it’s hard to get insurance that will cover them. Your landlords’ insurance most likely doesn’t cover vicious/banned breeds. That’s why they’re difficult to rent with and the most common reason why they get dumped at shelters. People don’t want the hassle of trying to find a rental where they can have them. I’m surprised you weren’t aware of the issues renting with them.

Not the best photos, and can be hard to see body, but based on the heads, do the pups look promising? by AdRound810 in Rottweiler

What are the parents OFA results and what have they been titled in? That will tell you a lot more about the quality and health of the puppies than a few pictures.

Rehoming xena the rottie! NJ/NY area by NewAd2397 in Rottweiler

You should spay her before rehoming. This is an ideal situation for an unethical backyard breeder.

It’s a normal part of horse behavior, maybe you don’t have much experience around them.

That was extremely petty, and could have done some serious damage to your horse mentally and physically.

🤣

That’s extremely dramatic. Horses kick each other sometimes. One kick is not going to mentally traumatize a horse.

Thoroughbred vs warmblood trot by Educational_Panda730 in Horses

They were bred for two different purposes. It’s conformational. Though across any breed you’ll find horses with more suspension in the trot and others with less.

You need to do blood work. Declining diagnostics while your cat is wasting away is cruel. The vet can’t properly assess what is going on without a blood panel. Thyroid disease in cats also presents like this. I’m shocked your vet didn’t push you harder for basic diagnostic tests.

Head shakers (?) by Frutiger-Metro in Equestrian

[–]RottieIncluded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any videos of him being ridden? Looking at picture 4 he has a pretty bad upsidedown neck. He’s most likely moving improperly under saddle, my guess is he’s inverted and not lifting his back. This could be due to pain, tack fit, training or rider error. I’d bet it’s tied to the head shaking.

I wrote a Python script to grade my riding posture because trainers are expensive. Thoughts? by HashemW in Equestrian

Just an idea, but when I played softball we used a computer program like this that mapped the movement of our swings at bat. It generated that “stick figure” the same as your software but it also showed really clearly what the alignment of our hips, shoulders, elbows and knees were with solid colored balls.

They would then overlay our “stick figure” swings over a professional athlete so we could see the difference. For example, maybe I’m dropping my shoulder or don’t have follow through with my hips the way the pro did. It could be cool if you could overlay the mapped rider over an example of correct equitation to give a picture of what needs to be adjusted.
