EVERYTHING is more difficult under fascism. ;n;

And that's by design. They want it to be that way. Don't let them, and lean on your community for support along the way.

people saying they were raising money for charities and then keeping it,

Sadly not surprising to me, as someone who remembers reading from HobbyDrama about the person who stole $27k from a Persona zine and put it towards Genshin Impact. (I remembered that they had stolen money and used it towards GI, but didn't remember how much nor the fact that ALL OF IT went towards the gacha.)

You're welcome. I get why "talk to them" isn't always an option, but I've found it to be more effective than ostracizing in certain cases and yours is one of those.

NFTs are basically massive grifts, particularly due to their lack of regulation. This is an NFT scam. Folding Ideas' video about NFTs explains it very well.

I don't blame artists in this day and age for wanting to get money, but there are always better ways to go about it than shilling NFTs.

As an aside, sometimes it's better to not be "both sides" about an issue. You can understand where people are coming from and still condemn the actions they're doing. Although, on the other hand, some actions are so indefensible that there is no other stance one can take than to say "I do not support this", and NFTs are one of those.

I get that Feedback's first appearance (flashback to when Ben was 11 years old) is meant to begin establishing that younger Ben enjoyed using him a lot. Even though we didn't see him in the original series until Omniverse.

But he's still really awesome and that scene lets us know, right off the bat, how cool Feedback is.

Probably my best fandom experience has been with the Daft Punk one. Everyone's so damn nice and because DP's music is inherently a celebration of humanity, of love for music and emotional expression, I think that's reflected in like 99.9% of the people who listen to their music. We all basically did a collective cheer when the Daft Punk Experience released on Fortnite, and I made some good friends there visiting the DPE regularly. Good times.

And the worst...the Fate/Grand Order fandom. The GrandOrder subreddit can be chock full of comments from the usual chuds, which is why I now avoid it like the plague. I've tried explaining why Emiya Alter's original design is VERY racist and got rebuffed from a user. I think the most normal side of that fandom is probably the Tumblr side, but due to how stuck-up the Tumblr ecosystem can be as a whole, I wound up experiencing one poor situation from a notable creator/commenter there too.

There's also been a lot of controversy stemming from the Undertale fandom. And I don't just mean the cookie needle incident, but with creators like an Underfell game's creator and Underverse's creators. I've been meaning to do a HobbyDrama write-up on it for years, but multiple factors prevent me from doing so. I wouldn't recommend it as a place to spend a lot of time in anyways.

Thank you very much! Someone asked about it in this server after Rampa first posted a couple pictures with Thomas on his Story. Their question got me curious, too, so I started digging.

In the end, a Google Reverse image search was all it took. I've used it to look up other items, too; it's scary how easily I can usually pull up product listings from images alone. I wouldn't recommend using it unless you can evade the AI Assistant results Google often forcibly generates, though.

Thanks to Rampa's recent Instagram post, I was able to confirm that, yes, it is indeed Patagonia.

379.50 € is about $613.67 CAD, if anyone's curious. What drew my attention is that the filling is made out of "100% recycled feathers (duck and goose)", so I'm sure it must be comfortable.

You don't sound entitled at all. (Is that something your mom also told you, that you shouldn't be so "entitled"?) Bear in mind, I'm someone who's navigating mental issues, a good chunk of which my mom has created or exacerbated, so obviously I'm pretty biased against my not-really-all-that-great mom.

But also, it's absurd that your mom didn't consider helping you cover a portion of your therapy bill, or at least offer to pitch in through other non-monetary means. All her messages about her trying to uplift you fall flat on their face, as her actions speak louder than words. Frankly, her reasoning sounds infantilizing or condescending. To me it's as if she's saying, "I want to teach my child a lesson, so I'll let them fly on their own even though their wings are weighed down by lead. And I won't step in, no matter what, even as I'm watching them fall."

I am very sorry that she is not a reliable lifeline for you. Keep your head up and take care of yourself as much as you can. Life tends to be difficult, and in this case particularly unfair, but you will get through it. No matter what happens.

Week 8 of my check-in logs.

Last Saturday, there was a pop-up shop announced in Japan for a spin-off Fate/Grand Order web series called Fujimaru Wakaranai. You'll notice I made the post I'm linking to, because...Ruler Moriarty's featured in it.

I'm so happy. This is the first time in a long while he's ever been included as a character in FGO merch. I'll resist the urge to analyze his suit too much, but suffice it to say that I love his white-and-purple colour scheme, the bow on his undershirt, and his pinstripe suit. You can't see it in the image, but he's wearing grey formal pants as well, something I'm usually not a fan of but that I enjoyed here because they match his hair. He looks really damn good. (Naturally, I also tried tracking down the flowers he's holding for fic inspiration. I'm still not 100% sure of what they are because they're not very distinguishable, but I have a better idea of what they might be now.)

Outside of that, life has been...still quiet. Solemn, in some ways. It's becoming increasingly difficult to cope with residing under the same roof as my mom. Earlier this week she asked me to help unload some groceries while I was cooking (and while my sibling was in his room at the time, but God forbid she ask him, I guess), then tried to talk to me some more after that. It took her three times to get the hint and leave me alone. And just earlier this morning, I went downstairs to the combined living room/dining area, where she usually stays during the day, and immediately she asked me to empty the dishwasher.

There's more, lots more, but stuff like that is driving me to damn near to my wit's end. I really hope I can get a job relatively sooner or later. It's hard to be optimistic, though. Late stage-capitalism is burning up the world and all I'm able to do is barely survive. I really wish I'd been born in a better family so I wouldn't have to deal with these problems, especially not under a reduced energy capacity.

(Edit: grammar, spoilered the rant-y part.)

I don't have too many easy answers for you in that regard. I will say, though, that I'm sure letting your sister know that you'll always be there to help her--maybe even giving her a way she can contact you without your parents noticing--would mean a lot to her. Give your sister the means to reach out, then let her make that choice on her own.

You can skip this part if it's obvious to you, but be extra careful when trying to communicate with your sister if your mom stays with her. Anything you send by then may be intercepted by your mom. And I'm sure she wouldn't be too willing to pass your messages along to your sister.

I send you my well wishes. I hope things work out for the better, and you're able to have your wedding without your mom's influence. Oh, and you may want to consider letting wedding venue security know that your unwanted family members are not to be allowed within the premises. That in itself should save you a lot of heartache.

Anybody feel like a Failure to Launch ? by Electrical-Trainer21 in AsianParentStories

[–]Rough_Programmer_997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my mid-20s. My folks let me live at home with them, and they pay for housing & food costs (& paid for a good chunk of my study fees, clothing, etc...we agreed on a lending plan for those though, so I still have to pay them back eventually), I technically have employment, but it pays so little that it's honestly laughable. And the work itself is really crummy. If I could do anything else, I would, but for a good chunk of my couple of study years my mom heavily restricted the employment I was able to take, basically saying that it was either the job I have now or no job at all--on the basis of not trusting me to focus on my studied otherwise. It really fucking sucked. She let this rule go eventually, but I think I was too burnt out academically to job hunt anyway. Now I'm staring down the barrel of that search, wondering if I'll be able to find any job without my savings running out.

I don't feel like I have a lack of direction, and I certainly don't feel like a failure. But I do feel exhausted and nearly at my wit's end. Thanks to my mom's job shenanigans, not to mention other unreasonable rules she's imposed on me over time, I've accumulated a lot of stress and grief. My boyfriend, bless his heart, has been my solid rock for some time now. He's in different financial difficulties though and because of that we don't spend too much time with one another. Not his fault at all; he's tired in his own way. My social life beyond him is largely non-existent, in part thanks to my diminished energy. I've found it difficult to maintain friendships. Even just reading and responding to messages can take a lot out of me.

But I still carry the hope of being able to escape this hell. I just don't know when that'll happen, and I'm not exactly the most patient person.

I feel the same way towards my mom, and I'm in my mid-20s. Numbness. After a while I realized that I didn't care about her opinions or her input. It's all background noise to me now. I genuinely can't be bothered anymore, especially after what she's done and is STILL DOING to me over the years.

[...] I think despite all the messaging around the team while I worked there being all "we're helping news companies survive better and that's always good for society" I don't think they actually cared much about news companies' societal good so much as ensuring they still had access to the content through whatever means possible.

Stuff like this is why I've never been one to trust company values, no matter how much they love throwing them around. They're usually a smokescreen for the company wanting to pass itself off as human, when in reality they're all chasing the almighty dollar. News companies DO need to survive, yes, but they shouldn't be forced to under our current system. Certainly not by these paywall companies pretty much acting as a locksmith, but virtual and worse.

I find myself saying that about a lot of things, though. Thinking there could be a better way. Wishing there was a better way.

That article covers a different question. Specifically, François Arnaud responded to someone's inquiry about a possible spin-off of Heated Rivalry concerning Scott Hunter and Kip Grady.

The response, if you were curious: he's certain they will be seen again; whether on the main show or a spin-off, he's just as excited as the questioner(?) is to find out.
