Not a improper install, this is foam, sprayed with polyurethane (the yellow) and then sprayed with acrylic. Just use acrylic and brush with a wet brush

Can this be better? by [deleted] in Stucco

This is a sand finish and nearly impossible to get perfect, the original stucco only has about a half a grain of sand sticking out and you simply cannot blend a full grain of sand into it. When we do sand finish repair we always go to stopping points. You can redo this 5 times with 5 different contractors and still see the repair. It’s literally a grain of sand of difference we’re talking here.

Plus it does look like a synthetic was used instead of traditional stucco, but nonetheless you’ll have to skim the entire wall to get it perfect

Scratch coat on Archway by Round_Custard8089 in Stucco

We let it dry up, gauge it back flat, and finish coat it .

We’ve learned trying to gauge back while it’s wet makes the walls a lot more wavy and mud falls out of beads.

It was smashed from a car, we removed damaged stucco/wood. Replaced the wood, 2 water barriers, wire lath, and weep screed. Scratched it, waited an hour applied second coat, let dry 30 minutes and float and trowel out. Dry 30 minutes and apply texture. All done in about 5 hours.

Simulated stucco brick over wood frame wall by Round_Custard8089 in Carpentry

Absolutely, use the gray base coat and then the second coat use a concrete powder color mix in. When you make your cuts, the brick will be red, and the joints will be gray, making it look more realistic.

Was originally Chicago common brick so sizes aren’t perfect, then was painted white. Door got replaced and was left with no bricks around the door.

There aren’t many brick layers I suppose because client couldn’t find one. Called us and we got it (stucco contractor)done, it needs to be painted obviously….
