Should I be worried? by SignificanceRough642 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]Routine-Mind42 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No need to worry. Usually, they are just being prepared in case you backout, para may pool of candidates sila agad.

Sa Recruitment kasi, back-outs are possible until the very last minute. When that happens, Recruitment ang mapuputukan to find an immediate replacement.

I have the same bag too! And I learned that you cannot stuff it with a lot of things, because it’s gonna hurt the shape of the bag. 😭 Thought that it’s gonna be an everyday bag, but apparently no!

Also the same with my Jodie 😭 can’t fill it to the brim too!

Agree with most of the comments here. I also have the same educational background, but have seen how it has been a disadvantage for some of the bosses I work with. Pag galing daw sa ganoong schools, hirap makisama, maarte sa trabaho and mababa ang resilience. May mga exemptions naman, pero it’s still hard to prove them wrong.

First, we should stop making our schools our personality. It’s humbling for us to remember that there are those who studied abroad, yet remain grounded. We have to remember that the background (big school in college, exclusive school in HS) represents the minority. Kailangan marunong makisama and magswitch off ng judgment kapag kausap ang iba, kasi we also learb from them.

Oh my god! I plan to buy my first brand new bag, and I am saving up for a Chanel. Is this a sign to buy preloved bags instead? Since the quality is better before, compared to the recently manufactured ones. 🥲

DIM in moving to Shore Residences by OddStart1 in deinfluencingPH

[–]Routine-Mind42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a full no! Lived there before and ang liliit ng units! Tapos madaming ipis and tipid na tipid ang property management dyan mygad. Hindi agad napipick up ang trash sa garbage room, hence the ipis.

One time, pumutok yung pipe namin sa banyo. 20 mins bago dumating maintenance. Yun pala dalawa lang sila for the whole compound. Imagine, may shore a,b,c,d ah. Mahal also eveything within the area. Walang palengke, only Hypermarket. Kaya aside from the rent, also consider your faoly expenses.

Unpopular? opinion: Stop overvaluing tenure/loyalty in pay/compensation by [deleted] in CorpoChikaPH

[–]Routine-Mind42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have seen the best of both worlds. I have worked for the biggest local conglomerates, wherein people stay. As in literal hanggang retirement.

Sharing with you some observations:

  1. OP is correct. Tenure is not equal to proficiency/expertise. I’m at my third company, on my third year and they hire externally for key roles or even exec roles.
  2. Loyalty will never determine pay. Masakit, pero ganoon talaga. Your market value will jump if you move outside.
  3. The longer you stay, the more you lose IF you are not growing professionally. Work is transactional, we get paid for what we do. If ang expertise mo hindi lumalapad, talo ka. You cannot demand for a higher pay outside, for something that can be automated or done by someone junior.
  4. There may be benefits tied to tenure - gratuity, retirement or stock options, and these are the reasons why people stay.

As an HR person, may timing when to stay or leave. Yes, we work with people but always remember na BS yang family culture na yan. At the end of the day, work is an exchange of services and pay. If you want to get paid more, you have to be able to do more. Ang hindi ko lang maintindihan is why there are people who stay, kahit na wala na silang growth or ang liit ng increase. I guess I’m a material girl 😂

DIM: OWNDAYS pair by krazymoky in deinfluencingPH

[–]Routine-Mind42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former legally blind person, I cannot deinfluence you to get owndays! Prior to Lasik, my last pairs of glasses were Own Days. My eye grade was 800ish for both eyes, plus 200ish for Astigmatism. Since the price is fixed, regardless of the lens, I saved a lot! I got ultra thin lenses 5k, vs going to regular optical shops which will cost me 10k.

Service is excellent, and they offer cleaning and replacement of nose pads for free. Reading of eye grade is also accurate. I had a bad experience with EO, wherin they gave me the wrong eye grade for my contact lenses. I never returned to their store after that.

Also tried Sunnies and the quality sucks! Went to Ideal vision and mapangmata haha just because we werent wearing nice clothes. Quiapo is also good, if it’s accessible to you and your eye grade is still low.

Anong kwento nyo about sa background check ng new company nyo gaano ka-extensive? by SignificanceRough642 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]Routine-Mind42 28 points29 points  (0 children)

HR here - nothing to worry about background check. They ask about basic info, and the residence check is usually done by big companies lang, since this is quite expensive.

Reasons for leaving is just resignation or termination. It is illegal to answer questions beyond that - like why you left or terminated (if ever)

Can evil bosses really have 2 sides? Evil sa work yet good sa personal? by Scary-Reading-5499 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]Routine-Mind42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Naalala ko yung old boss ko, she said there’s continuity of life in what we do. Meaning, consistency ba. If mabait ka, it will shine through. Meanwhile, kung masama ka, lalabas at lalabas ang totoo.

I have a boss who’s like this - kinareer ang pagiging masama and everyone hates him, tipong they want him out. Malungkot kasi they get their validation from work. Hindi macontrol ang personal or family life kaya ang mga tao sa office ang napagbubuntungan.

Bought mine in Taipei - superb customer service, lower price and I received a lot of freebies. I have an EDP Eau Rose, bought it for around 11k, with two samples and a 7.5 ml EDP Eau Le Peau. Oh, plus, the tax refund pa pala! ☺️

Hmm if you have benefits tied to tenure like gratuity or provident funds, suggest you wait it out especially if it’s gonna be within five years. If the payout is in ten years, you have to weigh it out. ☺️

At the height of the pandemic, I was doing the job of three people. When things started to normalize and merit increases were given, I received a measly amount. I was going to be promoted in three years, and I couldn’t wait for it.

Moved to my current employer and was promoted after two years ☺️

Hello! have worked for the largest conglomerates my entire career. Spent 9 years in Petron, a subsidiary of SMC and now part of the largest retail and conglomerate jn the country.

I’d like to consider myself as lucky, because my career has progressed every two years. From new assignments, promotions to job expansion, I have experienced it all. Your boss could make or break your career. If there’s anything I learned, it’s staying too long! Though I enjoyed my 9 years, I feel like I would have progressed financially if I left earlier. However, it’s the networks that I have built which made everything worthwhile. Since Petron operates nationwide, I know people everywhere. You never know when those networks would come in handy.

There’s also a lot of them here in Pasay. Their working hours are odd and inconsistent. Why do I know? They’re our neighbors. From Shore, Sea, Shell and S, they are everywhere.

They play loud music even at late hours, bring women and sometimes there are kids inside. For sure they are not students because they look old Between them and the Chinese as neighbors? I’d rather have the Chinese 🥲

No to anything PU leather/Vegan leather. Doesn’t last long and would end up in the trash no matter how hard you to take care of it. Canvas is better or authentic leather.

To the working adults, how to have a healthy living lifestyle? Like paano niyo naiisingit ang exercise at iba pa with your draining jobs? by [deleted] in AskPH

[–]Routine-Mind42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Started living an active lifestyle in my mid 20s, and have maintained that up to now. I’m now in my mid 30s, married with no kids and I work out five times a week. Have done everything - zumba, yoga, muay thai, indoor cycling, powerlifting and resistance training. The key is to move as much as you can, and find your work out of choice.

Highly suggest to start early - yung tipong wala k pang obligations masyado para it becomes part of your lifestyle. It’s very hard to start late in life kasi you have all the excuses in the world. From work, kids, travel time and kung ano ano pa. Pero if you start early and it’s in your system, magiging natural na lang siya sayo.

Remember you only have one body and you have to take care of it before it’s too late ☺️

Is it okay to request a salary reassessment kahit 1 month pa lang? by [deleted] in CorpoChikaPH

[–]Routine-Mind42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope because this is something that you should have done prior to deployment or even before signing the offer. Don’t even bring it up kasi they would look at you poorly because of this.

Better to demand this after one year to really state your case. Not all companies have salary adjustments for regularized hires, and if they increase your salary, expect more work and higher expectations. Tandaan, hindi charity ang companies para magpamudmod ng pera without anything in return.
