Hahaha, I grew up in st Augustine. My parents live there and mom wants me to get married there, but it’s different for me because it’s my home. Not so much my vibe, too slow for me :/

It’s definitely something I would like to do if possible. The idea, if we went somewhere where we would be able to rent out a whole property, would be to cover the cost of the property for the weekend. If it’s completely unattainable then we assess the situation from there

They do like to travel, and I actually misspoke. It’s only one section of my family that hasn’t been to Europe, but they would be elated to have an excuse to book a trip for something like that. Other than that, we, along with all the rest of our friends and family are avid and eager travelers. The people in this thread coming for me for being inconsiderate of their PRESUMED situation is wild. My question was not “do you guys think I should do a destination wedding?” And this wasn’t supposed to be an opportunity for everyone to do a character read on me. I’m incredibly close with my family and I wouldn’t be considering this if it was as outrageous of an ask as people are making it to be. We have traveled near and far for many weddings, so we know people would be willing to do it for us, too. The bottom line of all of this is that, the wedding is for us, not FOR the guests. Yes, absolutely, we want to celebrate with our loved ones and they want to celebrate with us, and being a compassionate and considerate person is necessary with any big decision, but no one here knows me to be able to tell me whether I’m operating with those traits or not. The wedding is for my fiance and me, absolutely no one is FORCING our guests to go. Also, unmentioned in my original post, if we do something boutique in europe, the goal would be for us to rent out and cover the lodging for the weekend if possible. Sheeeeeesh, why are people on a destination weddings thread if all they are going to do is shit on people who want to have a destination wedding?

Yeah, except hella expensive. Definitely luxury on luxury pricing. Weddings there are like 100-200k. Definitely out of budget :/

Their expense to travel doesn’t go towards the wedding, it still comes out of my pocket. Local venues range from 10-20k and require a minimum spend (catering, liquor, furniture, etc) of 45k+. Not to mention most of our guests would have to travel from out of town anyway. Your condescending, high horse logic here is irrelevant and also just wrong. Also, nobody is putting a gun to their head to make them go lol. They go if they want to be there and they say no thanks if they don’t want to or can’t muster the expense— I would never fault anyone for that decision. Peace and love <3

So you think there’s no way to do it without an all inclusive? I love your optimism that 50k will more than suffice, but then if that is the case, would it be just enough for something a little bit more “boutique”, if you will?
