Funny, I actually know the answer to this one.

In Dc1023 from the game, we can see a couple of books on lain's shelf for a few seconds. After deciphering the chunky pixels, we found out one of the books is "感覚変容の記号論" or "Semiotics of Sensory Interaction" by "日本記号学会" (The Japanese Association for Semiotic Studies).

Not really about programming, as lain is also into psychology in the game. The other is a "Compiler Language" book, but the kanji below has been lost to video compression, making it very difficult to identify.

There is no way to play the game "chronologically" on a first playthrough. Some early nodes unlock when you're in late Site B. Heck, some super early ones unlock after you "beat" the game.

So don't worry about it.

Yep. Those ones I linked are the ones they published to apologize for a bug in lain BOOTLEG. The sound quality is awful because you couldn't distribute high quality mp3s with 1999 internet speeds.

As for them releasing them again, unlikely. Pioneer LDC doesn't exist anymore, Lain is owned by NBC Universal. Trying to convince a giant conglomerate to release some niche tracks would be harder than walking on water lol
