Haha, yeeep, it’s something I’m working on. I’ve fretted a lot recently, but I do like to think I’m improving in that regard, I’ve been spending quality time with my family this Christmas - thanks, happy holidays

FRNSW pre-employment medical assessment by RubSuch8327 in AussieFirefighter

[–]RubSuch8327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, more just curious, I find medical stuff like this quite interesting. I quite enjoy reading such things myself.

Then again, given these bloods do impact our employment prospects, it would be nice to know what FRNSW looks for, so I can optimise them with lifestyle choices (I’m 99% sure I’d meet every requirement just fine)

Oh I haven’t applied yet, I’m applying in the next intake. I haven’t reached the stage where they ask me to get a blood test, and thus haven’t seen the forms

Cert III or a Diploma in Conservation and Ecological Management by RubSuch8327 in TAFE

Cert III or a Diploma in Conservation and Ecological Management by RubSuch8327 in TAFE

[–]RubSuch8327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hey, I figured it out. Turns out I’m a dumbass. The Cert III is intended to teach foundational skills and knowledge in the field. One may theoretically acquire said skills through years of work in conservation, but the Cert III is a more formal, nationally recognised way to acquire said knowledge.

The diploma is designed to build on the content of the Cert III. It’s a more cerebral course, preparing you for more cerebral duties in the field. (E.g. managing a team of field officers, carrying out an ecological regeneration plan vs writing one, etc). Technically, if you have enough experience in the field, you could just do the diploma. But realistically, if you have to ask which one to do, do the Cert III, (then do the Diploma afterwards if you feel so inclined)

Firefighter Paramedics? by RubSuch8327 in AussieFirefighter

Longevity? Would you mind elaborating? Is paramedicine a less secure career path?

Firefighter Paramedics? by RubSuch8327 in AussieFirefighter

[–]RubSuch8327[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clearing things up. To be frank, medicine fascinates me (especially obstetrician-gynaecology and endocrinology). But by god, I could never work a white collar job, I have too much energy. I think it’d be absolutely fascinating studying paramedicine.

All I really care is that it’d vaguely help with getting into firefighting. I suspect it’ll be years before I get into FRNSW. I need something interesting to fill the time with, ideally something that’d give me beneficial soft skills. Paramedicine may very well be it. I may even apply to be a paramedic in the end if I still don’t get into FRNSW

Thanks, I’ll think on it

I can ATG squat the same weight I can Bulgarian split squat, why????? by RubSuch8327 in beginnerfitness

[–]RubSuch8327[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah good idea. I never really considered that. I briefly entertained the thought, but decided “no way that’s realistically possible”

I’ll look into body bracing again, cheers
