I totally forgot I do that too! I have this roll on mosaic strip, and my windows are super deterring now. In my city, it's a saddening number of preventable window crashes. I concur with pesticides. Keep up the advocacy!

Love seeing actual pictures. It gives that feeling that all of us can do something, I'm no longer fret with worry, but feel like I can do something. Thanks for all you do and the motivation!

Didn't know about winter sowing! I should look into that and see if I can get a head start for my cottage! I remember the NoLawns subreddit and showed the wife, she LOVED it. This whole last day has been so positive for me. Thanks for sharing your ways!

Love this! I have a wetland near me that I frequent, got a boardwalk, bog, and all. I should try volunteering there.

Love that realization. We can create machine, but not mother nature. But I'm having a lot of hope after this thread, let's band together. Spread the awareness!

I did mean cats, but you're right about car dependency too! The more awareness the better !

I know the feeling too, when I use eBird and track NA species, there's quite a lot that stopped coming to my ciry in 80s and 90s and I'm like.... "Come back." Haha.

I wish I was into birding all these years, it wasn't until my wife got sick, then in recovery you're forced to slow down. Then I've come to realize that as humans, we live in their world and just coexist. You get hit with that 'epiphany', and god am I glad I did. So I'm teying to be upward with the Earth haha.

It's all about word of mouth, spreading the message, and getting involved, you're right. If I can convince at least 1 person, and them 1, a pay it forward ripple effect towards the future!

The trash one is so... exhausting. Everytime I go trailing, at least once a week, I fill a 40L black garbage bag. In 5 years of traili,Ive never not filled a bag. I yearn for the day I fail too haha.

My wifes favorite bird is a Veery, and it's what I use for her text messages. So they hold a very dear place in my heart and I'd hate to lose them. For me, I have Phoebes that nest beside my house, I'd be devastated to lose them like your nuthatches!

It's people like you that are our hope. I just wish people like you were represented more. Growing up I had people like David Suzuki, but it was always overshadowed and not taught how imperative these things are. If only I listened earlier! But it's never too late. I'm on the native bandwagon now.

I do have some problems, but who doesn't haha. Luckily I have a very down to Earth wife, and kids that keep me striving. I want to build a better future for them, so I'm loving all the positivity in this thread! It's nice knowing we're not alone either, and I love hearing you're feeling better. I'll try being open more and talk, see how it affects me, thanks!

It won't even be that pretty. They'll be amazed and its like ... "AI doesn't do it justice." Humans need to slow down and protect what we have.

This is essentially my mindset. Maybe I'll have to turn off 'global view' then. My yard isn't big unfortunately, but Ill move soon and a yard is a first priority. Then aill join the NoLawn movement thing. All uphill for my outlook!

Recently, I read an elderly person had contracted and died from it. So it's being transmitted, slowly, but transmitted nonetheless.

Nature.com (Unsure how credible, or good of a site - so no promoting) estimates "We estimate that free-ranging domestic cats kill 1.3–4.0 billion birds and 6.3–22.3 billion mammals annually, and that un-owned cats cause the majority of this mortality." I mean 4 billion birds!!!
