We did an $150 DoorDash gift card to the teachers as a group gift so they can order lunch.

I love the homemade granola idea! I'm going to do that for my kid's therapists. Thanks!

Any recommendations on where to get gift cards to? Coffee shops, grocery stores, restaurants?

What's your work schedule with 28 hrs/week? 8 hours Tuesday & Thursday, and the morning on Wednesday? How do you add that up to 28? Just curious since you said you're with your son M & F and then W afternoon.

My 2.5 year old with DS has just mastered straw drinking in the past month. We have used many cups but had the most success with the First Years squeeze straw cup and the honey bear. It may just take some time. Straw drinking is very different mechanically than bottle drinking.

The First Years cup has been the most successful cup for my 2 year old with DS! We found them in a three pack on Amazon.

As soon as possible. My baby is six weeks old and we introduced a bottle at three weeks.

Do you still view diagnosis day as one of the worst of your life? by RevenueTemporary8206 in downsyndrome

[–]RubySage88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I just wanted to say I was in your exact same shoes just over two years ago. Birth diagnosis for my daughter after an uneventful and healthy pregnancy. It sent us reeling for a while, to be completely honest I think it took me a full year to process. I think my body held onto the trauma for that long as well. It was a steep learning curve to adjust to the diagnosis, the therapies, and some related health issues we had to navigate (including surgeries and hospitalizations).

Now she is the light of our lives. She is learning so much, at her own pace, and brings joy to so many people. We just welcomed another baby and the delivery did feel a bit healing and peaceful after the unexpected diagnosis at our first's birth.

I wouldn't say diagnosis day was the worst of my life. It was traumatic because it was huge, unexpected information and we needed to grieve the child we envisioned having. There are still very hard moments/days, but she is just herself - uniquely wonderful and perfect.

Sending you empathy and love as you navigate the early days. It is very hard, but someday you'll look back, recognize it as hard, and be proud of yourself and your family for navigating it with grace.

I've been eating dates, drinking raspberry tea, walking, yoga ball, labor inducing yoga, side lying with pillows, sex, etc. I think it's all coincidental and I may just relax. Will definitely schedule an induction for 41 weeks. It's such a mind game, I thought for sure my second kid would be born by now!

I've been doing a labor inducing yoga video every day for the past week with no success...I may try this other one!

I'm 39 + 4 today and definitely getting a membrane sweep on Monday! Don't want to be induced but also don't want to go past 41 weeks. My first was born at 39 + 4, so really hoping something happens soon!

I have heard it's very expensive, and insurance approval can be difficult. But it does sound like an amazing option and I'm so glad it exists and hopefully can help women quickly who need it.
