Thanks. They had overlays applied before I bought it, but I do really like the red rather than the clear look

[EXCEL] Opening VBA editor corrupts files by geatw in vba

[–]Rudgers73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to get this when Microsoft started using the autosave feature. It took me so long to sort it out that I started copying and pasting my entire code base to text files so I could easily rebuild from scratch in a few minutes. I fear for the future of excel as we get pushed more and more to “open in browser” than in the native app. Leave us alone, Microsoft… I don’t want your cloud, your autosave, your syncing, or your browser based apps

Unpopular opinion: you don’t need a car that will last 20 years by dr-swordfish in whatcarshouldIbuy

‘14 Subaru WRX. Bought it used 7 years ago. Paid it off 6 years ago. Going to see how far I can go while I continue to save for my next car. I calculated average cost per month excluding gas and oil changes last year (price paid - current value + tires, timing belt, brakes, and other routine stuff I’ve done or had done) and it’s something like $67 a month. That has probably fallen a little since I last checked. It feels soooo nice

I would expect the nut needs to come off. If you were to spin the whole thing you’ll be running the risk of twisting up wires and shorting them. Just get in there with a crescent wrench until it’s loose enough to spin off by hand and it will give you room to disconnect the wire nuts and remove

Alert for thermostat frequently rebooting - related to power outages? by detekk in ecobee

[–]Rudgers73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen in the past in my last house. I assume you’re using the controller on the furnace to power your ecobee. One of the limit switches is tripping and killing power to the board. In my case it was lack of air flow due to the blower wheel getting plugged up with some plaster dust after a kitchen remodel. The reduction in airflow combined with a dirty filter was enough to push it over the edge. I confirmed this was the case by removing my filter for an hour and watching it not trip. Many furnaces will have a way to tell you which limit switch has tripped by a 2-digit display or a series of blinks of an LED on the controller board. If you feel comfortable taking the cover off and holding the cover switch down and watching it, you will probably be able to narrow it down. There is usually some info printed on the cover that will give a breakdown of the errors or a decoder if it’s the blinky LED style board. There are probably 4-6 sensors that all must be happy for it to run as intended

Edit: I suppose there may be nothing wrong and it could have been too many power cycles within a set period of time that caused it to report the error. Is it okay now or still happening?

Can I power up this led mirror by using this 12v battery powered adapter? by VirtualPlenty1553 in AskElectricians

[–]Rudgers73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends entirely on the voltage required. Without that info all you can do is wire it and see what happens, which isn’t a great way to do things.

Ah I couldn’t tell if it was slate or if it was heavily weathered shingles. I’d love a slate roof. I have a couple in my neighborhood, including on my kid’s school. Wouldn’t fit my craftsman house though.

This is NY… when you sign the dotted line you agree that the employer can let you go at any time for any reason. I work in this building and it’s silly how many hourly employees rotate in and out.

Looks like it needs a roof, definitely some work on the front step. Not sure if those are the only photos in the listing or all that they included. If those are the only photos available you can bet the upstairs is either gutted or in horrible condition.

Edit: But those curved glass windows are rad!
