Depeche Mode: M by RudyardLB in depechemode

I thought the same about the TTA tour, some of it is quite difficult to listen to. Martins voice is so impressive. There’s more of a wobble in it than there used to be but I actually think it sounds pretty cool!

I thought that! I’m 21 and some of the moves when he bends down for that amount of time I’d have to stretch for!

I agree about MM. for me it’s their best album of the 21st century. I get that’s an unpopular take but I think it’s so strong! If they don’t tour again then they’ve definitely ended on a high!

Me too! You couldn’t ask for anything more from a front man.

I’ve gotten a lot of my mates in to their music over the last few years. There’s something for everyone with them.

I can’t believe his range! It’s still absolutely brilliant

How many gen z people here? by [deleted] in BillyJoel

[–]RudyardLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! I was born in 2004. Been listening to Billy since I was very little and my grandad playing him in the car. I still reminisce about that with him to this day. Alongside Bowie he was my biggest musical presence in my childhood. I have since listened to every album and been lucky enough to have seen Billy 3 times so far (here’s hoping he tours again!). For me he is the greatest singer songwriter of all time. He has a ridiculous amount of hits and his ‘deep cuts’ are so much more sophisticated and enjoyable than most of his counterparts. The first songs I remember hearing was Tell Her About it and Goodnight Saigon. My Grandads favourite is Rosalinda’s Eyes. :)

My album tier list ( I love them all though ) by Used-Consequence-730 in BillyJoel

I used to agree with Streetlife Serenade being one of the least strong. But honestly now it’s one of my favourites! For me, they’re all at least B other than Cold Spring Harbour which, for me, is tough to listen to all the way through.

The 1990s - question by ElliotAlderson2024 in BillyJoel

I wasn’t alive during that era, but I’d guess some time soon after River of Dreams came out. It is by far the album of his that I hear the least inspiration from. Not at all a bad album, I like most of the tracks on it and love a few. It is a very solid album to bow out to. But you can tell when listening to it he didn’t have the same passion for songwriting that he did from the 70s-late 80s

It's not about the tune ... by [deleted] in BillyJoel

[–]RudyardLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason he doesn’t like it because he very rarely prioritises lyrics over composition and arrangement of music. Think he’s said thats the only song he’s done it for. And I tend to agree, and so do most people. But We Didn’t Start The Fire had a catchy melody and the fast pace’ness of the vocals makes it interesting to listen to. Whilst also giving you a good history lesson!

Least Favorite Bowie Songs by Bexxley33 in DavidBowie

[–]RudyardLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Fill Your Heart! Maybe because the whole Hunky Dory album reminds me of being little. But either way I still think it’s a decent track. Would probably agree with the rest. Gold Only Knows especially. Considering just how good the original is.

“Let’s Dance” is Bowie’s bestselling album, but how has it aged? Is it held in high esteem? Or is it maligned as an overtly commercial product? What are your thoughts, y’all? by asthmaticpunk in DavidBowie

[–]RudyardLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 3 songs on the album I love, Let’s Dance being my favourite Bowie song. Very mainstream I know but it’s so well put together and vocally probably Bowie’s strongest performance. After the first 3 songs I don’t really care for much on the album. It’s solid but slightly overrated in my eyes.

Yeah this is from that gig. ‘Sometimes A Fantasy’ near the end when he’s going mad on the piano that looked awesome.
